Hello fellow learners,
I am using the instacert flashcards along with a clep textbook. I have to take macroeconomics in less than a month. My question is this; I think I am getting the hang of using the flash cards. Is it normal to have this horrible feeling the first time I go through the flashcards, and only know like 10 answers. I agonized over answering knowing it would be wrong the first time. I am getting over that and Can answer all but 8-10 of the questions in the first two modules, and have only been using them since Saturday. Is this a common newbie experience? Is the hard part getting over the "you must answer the question right, first time" feeling? Any help would be appreciated

Relax, you're doing fine. Most of the people here can't answer the questions the first time around but practice makes you understand key ideas. Rinse and Repeat. It will help you in the long run. Hope that helps! Good Luck on your exam!

If so, how did you do?

I agree with everything said thus far and took the exam last month-even if you know something about a subject area it is unlikely that you would know the exact words IC flashcards require first time through. The IC Specific Exam feedback is right on for this exam.

I knew NOTHING at all about economics before I started and do not like doing math problems on timed tests which makes this an "irritating" subject for me to learn! In the beginning it was painful, but in the end (about 9 days later) I felt quite comfortable with the material and did well on the test (see signature). I needed a high score to get alternate credit. I primarily used the IC flashcards and supplemented it with the awesome SparkNotes website on Economics (less material to read than a class book on Macroeconomics) to get more context and just read a different explanation when I was not getting something on IC. I did borrow a few books from the library, but in the end IC and SparkNotes were the resources I used the most. I also found a website that graphically displays the basic impact of changing supply and demand variables to help cement the concept in a more visual way.

Compared to Principles of Finance (which I am studying for now), Macroeconomics was a much less "irritating" exam for me - which makes sense as Principles of Finance is upper level material!

I havent taken the test yet. I am through the 3rd module and I am finding that the vocabulary from one module helps think through the question in the next. I am really feeling like I understand the material, and I've only been using the system since last Sat. I take the test june 10th. I have clepped english with comp (71) and marketing (64) so far. When you actually take the Clep is it more comforting since the answer is there as opposed to the IC process where you have to come up with an answer?

for me, i'd say yes and no. with IC it's frustrating when you don't know the exact answer, but when you do there's no question about it. on actual clep, having options can either confuse you or help through the process of elimination. so! i've heard for macro there's five answer choices, not four (i take it tomorrow!). lets just say its more comforting having answer choices... good luck!

Ahhh Shoto you are wise! Excellent advice. There have been couple of references to math problems with macroeconomics. What type of problems are these? Anyone have any examples?

I don't recall very much mail that is not common sense stuff that you can do if you understand the concept of the question. Do not stress over math for Macro...good luck...when are you taking it???
