Default College Math - What's the Probability?

I am scheduled for College Math this Sat. I am having a tough time and been with a tutor 4 times already. I am going to burn my math books when this is over.

I don't want to postpone b/c I want to get this over with and I am at the point where I am not going to improve without major effort.

My practice scores are as follows:

    College Board: - 48

    Princeton Review: - 62

    REA #1 - 63
    REA #2 - 52

    Peterson's #1 - 62

Can I pass this on Saturday? I don't feel like I can.

    Thanks!

    Brian

You can definitely pass. You need to have confidence going in, and don't over-think things. Move through the exam and answer the "easy" questions first, then go back and try the others. For a math exam, don't forget that sometimes you can work backwards -- try plugging each of the supplied answers into the problem, and see which one fits. That's not always the best approach, but in some cases it can help you. Remember to manage your time -- don't spend too much on any one question. Your scores on your practice exams indicate that if you do your best you will pass. So now the challenge is to remove the obstacles to doing your best -- time pressure, nervousness, lack of confidence. Consider praying and/or meditating just before the exam. You have prepared, so now you need to trust your preparation. You have already defeated the exam -- now just make sure you don't defeat yourself.

    I say go for it…

Remember basic test taking strategy. Go through the exam and pick of all the easy ones first. Then go back through the second time and work on the ones that take a little brain power and calculations. Make sure you know definitions prime numbers, rational numbers, etc…

    Good luck I’m sure you’ll do well…

What worries me is that the last test I took (today) was the College Boards - 48!

That is a little low but based on your other test scores I still think that you're fine. Besides you have 36 hours or so to cram!

I got a 47 on the College Algebra test so don't feel bad. I discerned that for Math -- at least for me -- the best way is to take a two pronged approach and take the classes at a local college. I learned much more that way. I took Math 310, then College Algebra. But if you can pass the test's, go for it!

Thanks for the encouragement. I passed with a 60!

What a relief!!!!!! As hot as it is here today, I'm going to have a bonfire tonight - all math books will be in it!

    Thanks again,

    Brian

    Default You Can DO IT!!

Hey, I if I can get a A in MATH 125(Survey of College Math) Algebra,Stats,Geometry, and Calc, through AMU On-Line you can ace the test!

I was sure I was going to FAIL, But I kept working it and (Holy C***) I passed my final yesterday with a 99% and a A overall for the course. Study,Study and work out the practice problems, and understand the solutions

    You can Do IT!! .

    Hi ThatBrian,

I'm taking this same test next Friday, Aug 1.

Can you tell me if there are a lot of word type problems on this exam? For example, I'm having lots of trouble with this type of problem shown below, and I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time trying to master this stuff when I'm off the mark for what I'm focusing my study time on.

    1. Henry can paint a house in 4 hours. Claude can paint the house in 3 hours. How long would it take the two of them to do the job together?

    Answer: 1.71

I'm doing okay on the deck of cards, and the dice word problems, so no worries there.

I'm using InstantCert and Cracking the CLEP book for studying.
    Any help appreciated!
