Default DANTES exam resources - order --- help needed..

    hello folks..
I am ready to study for these exams..
    DSST Principles of Supervision
    DSST Human Resource Management
    DSST Organizational Behavior
    DSST Ethics in America

I have questions.. your answers are greatly appreciated..

    1) In which order should i take them.( because sometimes information is overlapping so it's better to start with easiest one first)

    2) What preparation guides or books do you suggest other than IC cards

    3) What is the average preparation time should i give for each exam. (I know it depends upon person to person just curious)

    Thanks N Regards

    Reshab

Actually...you've already done the work yourself!!! Based on the recommendations from others on this forum, I would take the exams in the very same order you've already listed. Problem solved.

    BOY....that was easy..................Next!!!!!

Good luck to you in on your educational journey. Peace be with you always.

    Smile Info

As far as books go...check with your local public library first to see what resources are available to you (for free)!!!!

I would highly recommend the InstantCert flashcards for all of the exams you have listed and maybe supplementing them with the Petersons Practice tests and Wikipedia for concepts and topics not "thoroughly" explained in IC. These resources combined should earn you a nice score on the actual exam. Remember a pass is a pass. To the vast majority of colleges, all they care about is a score of 50 or higher. They don't care whether you scored a 50 or an 80. Passing is the only goal.

Also be sure to check out the Specific Exam Feedback section here for each and every exam you take prior to studying for the exam in mind. You will gain valuable insight from others who have already taken the very exams you're considering.

The good thing about these exams you're taking is that there is tremendous overlap which will make your learning that much more effective. This is the very same order I'll be following myself. Good luck to us both!!!!!

Hope this info helps you some. If there's anything else I can do to help...just holler. That's what we are all here for, to help each other.

    Peace be with you always.

    From a loyal degree seeker,

    Marshall

    Default Which books to use?

    Hi Reshab,
I agree with Marshall about the order of the tests. Also, as he stated there is considerable overlap on the Supervision, HR, and Org Behavior tests.

As for study resources, I relied on IC and used textbooks I bought off of eBay or Amazon. I have a tendency to over-prepare (and I wanted to score an A grade because I may apply to EC) so I actually got one of the textbooks recommended on the Dantes exam review sheets. If I still had the textbooks I'd send them your way, but I already passed them along to another member of the forum.

Also, have you gone over the Dantes General overview's for each subject? If you don't have it, I'll try to search for the link that gives you access to the Dantes book online with descriptions of several of the tests along with short practices tests. Let me know if you need it.

    Good luck!

Default Sorry it took so long...I was out of town

    Hi,
Sorry, I had to take my son out of town to see his doctor. This is the link I was talking about.

    Here is the Dantes link:
    http://www.petersons.com/pdf/free/DSST.pdf

The textbooks I used were: For Organizational Behavior - Robbins, Stephen P. Essentials of Organizational Behavior; and for Human Resources - Ivancevich, John M., and William F. Gluech.Foundations of Personnel/Human Resource Management.

That doesn't mean they are necessarily the best. I used them because they were on the list of "recommended resources" from the Dantes test description and they were easily (and cheaply) available on eBay. In neither case did I have the most recent edition - but it didn't hurt my grade. Also, in both cases I used IC and probably would have passed with IC alone. I just have a tendency to over-prepare - and I wanted a good grade in case I decide to apply to EC (where Dantes tests get a letter grade) to help boost my pathetic GPA.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything I do to help you out with these tests.

    Best of luck to you.
    Kelly
