Default I've got a week for college algebra- HELP!

So I took the CLEP college mathematics today (Without studying at all. Stupid, right?) and I scored a 42 on it, even tho I thought for sure I would've gotten at least a 50. So now this puts me in a very big problem because I pretty much planned out the next 6 months with me having passed that CLEP...

Now this is really important to me, should I even bother taking the College Algebra CLEP? (I need a CLEP to fullfill the math credit.) and do you think 1 week is enough time to study if I dedicated 4 hours a day to it? The test date is Friday. Should I bother?

Have you taken a Peterson's practice test yet? College Algebra is not an easy CLEP. I am not trying to discourage you. In fact, I think all of us can do most anything we set our minds to, but you have got a little ways to go if you got a 42 on the College Mathematics CLEP.

Step one, try a Peterson's exam and see where you are at. This will also show you where the "holes" are in your understanding of the subject. Working polynomials is at least half of the College Algebra exam, so I would place a lot of emphasis on this skill. The good news is that College Mathematics is not all that closely related to College Algebra. I know this probably sounds ridiculous, but College Mathematics is basically extremely complex arithmetic, whereas College Algebra is more along the lines of theoretical concepts that are based on the basic tools you learned in fourth grade math.

I think that what you want to accomplish is possible if you approach it the right way. Keep us posted after you take a Peterson's practice CLEP exam. Meanwhile, I will try to get a couple of links posted that I thought were really helpful for laying a decent foundation for algebra.
