Yes, I am going through Thomas Edison and precalculus is required for my degree . I looked at the REA guide but it does not come out until June '08 and I need to take the test before then.

Well, after four weeks and lots of prayer I took precalculus this morning and passes with 58. I will try to remember what I can of what was on it.
    Study material:
precalculus demystified, Rhonda Huettenmueller main study source
    Various precal. and algebra sites:
    http://archives.math.utk.edu/visual....s/0/index.html
    Precalculus Tutorial
    Precalculus Problems and Solutions
    Practical Algebra Lessons
Page on using a TI graphing calculator, it help me figure out how to use the PowerOne calculator that you download.
Using the Graphing Calculator - Table of Contents
Demystified is a good book but it covers a lot of stuff that is not on the test, I had no questions on matrices or sequences, division of polynomial functions, completely factoring the same.
What you will need (as far as I can remember) as was posted before you NEED to know all about functions, how to graph them, how to combine, how changing the equation changes the graph. Make sure you know about the equations of parabolas, hyperbolas, ellipses. Know the sine, cosine, ect, both in relation to the triangle and to each other. There was nothing that required extensive calculation. Oh yes, I did have enough time to answer at least make my best guess at every question although I used it all. The 25 questions in the official study guide are pretty close to the real thing, but on the actual test there was a high enough percentage of the more basic questions that I was able to pass. That is all I can think of, hope this helps someone.

I am in knots over having to take this precalc. prereq. before going any further in my degree!!! Clep, believe it or not, is the least painful way for me to get this out of the way. Thanks for your input.

Congrats on going where no man (or woman) has gone before!! You're in sacred territory now. That's great you were able to get this exam knocked out. I know many of us have been scared to death of this exam, so we just do what comes naturally.....STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM PRE-CALCULUS!
