I took this cold and passed fine. I didn't know about IC then but I just happened to be at the test center. Excelsior didn't give me credit for it though but its a good elective.

    I'm sure you ACED it!!

You would absolutely be able to pass it cold Brian. I have no doubt about that.

You have no need to take it, but if you feel an urge just to do it anyway, you will surely earn another A.

In fact, I thought about YOU as I was taking the exam. There were just a couple of questions about the chain of command, and who is responsible for what in a typical police department. I was a little uncertain of the correct answers, but smiled to myself thinking "ShotoJuku would SO totally know the answer to this!"

    Ha ha!

In lieu of actually being a cop, watching shows like CSI, Law & Order, Without a Trace, Criminal Minds, etc., would provide anyone with enough general knowledge to pass this exam.

I'm not big on the idea of taking ANY exam cold, and I would strongly recommend that anyone taking this exam should definitely study Instantcert just to give them that extra edge. But if I was forced to take ONE exam without any prior study, this would be it.

It's three very easy credits and, even though I am saying it could be passed cold, please DON'T actually take it cold unless you are a cop like ShotoJuku. It's better to study Instantcert just a little bit beforehand, than to be sorry later.

I DID study hard for this exam (as always), and I had already passed American Government, Criminal Justice, Intro to Business Law, and Business Law II. All of these provided me with a very strong foundation in the criminal process, law, civics, court rulings, congressional acts, and the constitution etc. So your mileage may vary.

Don't come complaining to me if you take it cold and end up failing.

    Is everybody clear on that?

    Good!

That's as close I am willing to come, on the record, to advocating taking ANY exam without appropriate study. It's just not worth the risk that you MIGHT fail it. Now, off the record?.....Nah, I just can't bring myself to say it.

Okay, I think I've sufficiently covered my ass now.

    'Nuff said!

Pretty funny post there, Snazzlefrag. I'll be taking Dantes Criminal Justice in a couple days. The IC material seems very easy, and I am currently working in a portion of the justice system, so I am pretty confident. Once again, thanks for all the posts!

I took Intro to Law Enforcement (on computer) a few days ago, and passed with a 57. I studied from InstantCert for two days, and really knew the material - but honestly, while I was taking the test I was losing it because I knew the answers to so few questions (except the common sense ones). I was sure the information on the test wasn't on InstantCert......in other words, I don't think my memory failed me, as I just didn't even recognize the questions. I often don't post about my testing experiences because I can never remember the questions on the test, which is probably a stress thing. So I apologize, but I can't even provide examples of the questions that were on the test. I thought I would post about this, just because it felt unusual. It's common for me to walk out of a Dantes test thinking that I didn't do well, and then finding out I did fine, but this was an extreme version of that experience.

I took Criminal Justice this morning. The first half of the test seemed REALLY easy, but the second half went into uncharted territory, where instantcert hadn't taken me. I really believe I did fine on the test, but it was slightly disconcerting.

So, is there a significant difference between Criminal Justice and Intro to Law Enforcement? I'm counting on there not being a difference, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks to all!

    Matt

Uh, nevermind. I just realized that IC offers Intro to Law Enforcement as well... I missed it before. Thanks anyway!

    Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in reporting my score. I recently moved across country from PA to CA. So I have been out of action for the past few weeks.

I received my score for DANTES Intro to Law Enforcement. I got a 69, which is exactly the same score I got for DANTES Criminal Justice.

All in all, I would say that both of these exams will provide you with easy A's if you use Instantcert. I would highly recommend either exam if you need a GPA boost, or require a few extra elective credits.

One last note...At Excelsior, Criminal Justice is considered a Social Science, whilst Law Enforcement is considered Applied Professional.

    Best of luck,
    Snazzlefrag
