Default Transferring CLEP and DSST credit

    Hello all,
I'm a newbie and couldn’t find the answer to this question...
Are there any institutions that keep CLEP and DSST scores filed somewhere so that you can request that the credit be transferred to a college? If so, would they ever expire?
    Thanks a lot, Will Serra

CLEP (and I believe DSST) keep your scores on file for 20 years, and you can request that they send the transcripts to any number of colleges within that 20 year period. Also, you can specify exactly which scores you want sent; you can either have the scores for all tests you've taken sent, or just the scores for particular tests. You can also choose to 'bank' the scores with TESC or Excelsior on a combined transcript (for a fee, of course) and then have TESC or Excelsior send the transcript.

To add on what Lia said, you can't count on having "floater" credits longer than 20 years. Even if you have a transcript from a college, or credit bank them somewhere, the college you want to earn your degree from will request you send your official CLEP transcripts to them when you apply. So, you have only 20 years to get that undergrad! Chop! Chop!

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there's a fee to request them directly?

When you sit down to take the exam, "selecting" your college will prompt CLEP to send that score direct to your college for free. If you don't do that, at the point in time when you want all of your CLEPs sent somewhere, it is $20 for one inclusive transcript to be sent to one school.
