Cool Dantes Drug and Alcohol Test

Am taking the Dantes test on Aug 26th. I am told that it is a pencil and paper test. Does anyone know how many questions, what an average passing score is, etc? I have never taken a Dantes test before.
    Thanks,
    tcrn

Dantes uses a scaled scoring method, and the range is 20-80. I think a passing grade on the Drug and Alcohol test is 49 and above. It was about 100 questions.

If you are an RN then you should have no problem with this test. You could probably pass with no prep at all. BTW, I am in EMS, and I took this test on a whim, because I had some time left over after taking another exam. No prep, no study....It was a piece of cake.

    Hi Nurse,

Of course, nobody is recommending that you DO take this test without studying first. Only that it is POSSIBLE for someone, with experience in the field, to pass this exam without study.

My advice....always cover yourself by preparing adequately for EVERY exam: Whether that requires intensive study for several weeks, or a light review of the key terminology the night before.

Having said that, WAY TO GO CEDERIC. How cool is it that you were able to pass this one based SOLELY on what you already knew. You basically had three upper level credits handed to you on a platter. Gotta love it!

Even with an RN background, you shouldn't take this test cold. I would definitely study for this exam. There is no reason to not. The instantcert material is great. If you can go through instantcert and score well, then take the test with that much more confidence. The pass rate is 41%, which is the same pass rate as clep microeconomics if that gives you any perspective.

    Default Dantes Drug and Alcohol

Thankyou for the feedback! I am studying (and have been for about a month) using a couple of books recommended by the material I received from the Univ of Phoenix and instantcert. I love the instantcert manner of teaching, except that sometimes my spelling inhibits me!!:-) Am studying instantcert this rainy Sun afternoon....so Moderator, yes, I do plan to continue studying up until 8/26!!
    Thanks again!

You are going to do great then Nurse. I feel confident saying that, based on your study resources and the time-frame you have allowed yourself. Your prior experience will also be invaluable to you.

    Best of luck,

    Default Practice Quizzes

I found these quizzes helpful when I took this course. The material comes from Drugs, Society and Human Behavior.

    Default NOT a hard test

I used solely IC for this one and felt great after I walked out, 50 minutes after sitting down. I found studying it to be quite interesting and learned quite a bit. Many of the answers jumped out after reading the question and I merely had to select it as I read down the choices. I think that you, being in the health care world, will probably do better than I did. Good luck and let us know how it turned out. Lee

    Good luck!

Would you say that if you do OK on these sample tests, that you would on the DSST as well? For the four I've taken so far, I've only missed a couple, and was wondering if this is a good reference pre-test, so was curious. This test is in my list, and it would be nice to have an easy one to take between two harder ones.

    Thanks in advance.

Question Drug and Alcohol Test Taken!

    Dear All,
Took the Drug and Alcohol test last Sat (8/26) and thought it was more difficult than I expected. I had had a rough week in the ED and was physically and emotionally exhausted, then had to drive 2 hours to take the test and was tired. I studied alot on the nervous system as I figured that would the be core questioning, however, it was what drug was classified as Schedule I,II,III, etc. There were about 15 questions that I was unsure of out of 106. Didn't want to change many of my answers as you know what they say about that!
I asked if I could pay an extra $25 to get the results shipped back to the college quicker but there was not an option for that on the form I filled out. Am going to call Dantes today and see if they can add it to my account. Just want to get this over with as I need the diploma for the job I currently have.
Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. Will let you know what happens!
