hi, just signed up yesterday. I've spent a dizzying amount of time searching the past messages, but didn't quite get the answer I was shooting for..

so at the risk of sounding redundant...

Would taking the social sciences and history be a better approach than taking psych and sociology to get 6 credits for a social science gen ed requirment?
I started studying the psych ...and realize its only been a day, but I'm spinning my wheels on it.

Although the 1,000+ questions for the social science & history looks daunting too. But some have commented that it was fairly easy..I really need to knock out 6 credits in social science field within 2 weeks. looking for the path of least resistance! Hoping to get some feedback :-)

Next, relax, all will come into place and your wheels will take hold and no longer slip.

IMO - taking Sociology FIRST followed by Psych would be a better option. Soc is said to be one, if not the easiest exams out there so it would be a good warm-up and get you in gear. After that, Psych pretty much picks up on the Soc trail and will give you the credits you need in no time.

Welcome to the board.

I tend to agree with ShotoJuku's advice.

I would study for Sociology this week, and Psychology next week. Earn your 6 credits, and move on.

Social Science & History will require you to be familiar with a LOT more material than Soc and Psych individually. You would need to be comfortable with macroeconomics, microeconomics, US history, World history, politics, government, geography, sociology, psychology, and anthropology.

Therefore, I think you might be better taking your foot off the accelerator a little bit; study for Sociology over the next few days, take and pass the exam; then study for Intro to Psychology over the following few days, take and pass it.

You can't expect to absorb a whole semester's worth of knowledge for ANY subject in just one day. Be patient with yourself. Slow and steady.

If, after studying for a few days, you still aren't grasping the information, I would recommend that you postpone your exam for a while. It's not worth taking an exam if you aren't ready and able to pass it. It is better to study for two weeks and pass, than to study for one week and fail. Right?

My friend, ShotoJuku often says, "slow and steady wins the race." I agree with him 100%. Study until you feel adequately prepared, and then take the exam. Give yourself a chance to study for longer than one day before you begin to lose hope, okay? It'll come! Just keep working at it.

this is to half test the signature update request

and the other half is to say, WOW -- I'm totally astounded with the sociology material (i realize the general sentiment is this is easy to begin with) -- but spending 3 hrs today on it w/flashcards and the collegeboard prep test, really feel like I'm ready to go into it this saturday and pass.

Wish the Psych stuff came as easily! but as ye good mates say, patience :-)

Taking Sociology will help you get used to the process, to know what expect, and to know the kind of depth you need to study for the Psych exam.

You are doing the right thing by taking Sociology first. Of course, you DO need to know your stuff for EVERY exam, no matter how 'easy'. Regardless of what anybody says, YOU are the one who is going to have to sit the exam. So always make sure YOU feel ready before you take any of these exams. The more exams you take, the more you will become aware of when you have studied enough.
