Default Petersons Practice tests harder than CLEP?

I am studying for the american lit clep, and I thought I was coming along nicely, but I scored a 61% on my first peterson's test.

    Is this cause for concern?

Can someone tell me if the peterson's tests are harder or easier than the actual test itself?

    Thanks!

While I never took that test, it was my experience that Petersons were always a little harder than the real thing. I think you are looking good with a 61.

    Good luck,

    Default 61% is fine

Yes the Peterson's test are generally considered harder than the actual CLEP's. Most shoot for at least 50% on Peterson practice test. I prefer to shoot for at least 60%, but then I like to have a cushion of comfort.

Remember to pass the CLEP you usually only need a 50. Most schools will let you know if you need something higher. The highest you can get on a CLEP is 80 and I have only seen that reported once or twice.

If I were you I would try the other 2 practice test and if you get at least 55%go for it.

    Good Luck

Yes, Peterson's tests try to push you a little harder than even the real test. You'll do even better the more practice tests you take. The first one is most always the worst.

At least, that's what I hope, since I just scored well on a Peterson's practice exam for Humanities.

I JUST took my Biology Clep. Studied like a MOTHER FREAKER for it and COMPLETELY BOMBED my Petersons. Think I scored like a 46%. Anyway I decided to say screw it and give it a shot anyway without any further study and scored a 72 on the clep. So in general I have NO idea but specifically Biology Peterson's is WAY harder and much more detail specific.

Personally, I don't worry so much about the practice test grades. I take them as another source of sample questions or material I may need to research more so that I have a stronger grasp of the material when testing. It is just another tool, no matter how you use it.

Studying for Amer Lit. also so I can't compare that test yet. But, as a rule Peterson's are harder than CLEP. I don't think I've ever scored as high as 61 on a Peterson's, but have passed 4 CLEP's for 18 credits. Let us know how they compare after you are done with the Amer Lit. CLEP
