    1. What grad degree are you pursuing/planning to pursue?

I am currently pursuing an MS in MIS at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

    2. Why are you pursuing a grad degree? How will it benefit you personally or professionally?

I am doing a grad degree both because I've always wanted to and because I feel like it will help me achieve my professional goals.

    3. Why did you choose this particular school to attend (or groups of schools to apply to)? You can leave out the school name(s) if you prefer privacy, I'm more curious about the "why" part.

For my grad degree I was looking for an accredited B&M state university with an on-line presence and UIS met all of these criteria. They're regionally and AACSB acredited and offer close to in-state tuition rates for on-line only students. They also offer several options for completing the program including a capstone, thesis, or project. They offer classes 3 times a year and I should be able to complete my degree by May 2011 provided that life doesn't get in the way.

    Smile 51 and still "schooling"

Congratulations to all of you for the accomplishments that you are making and have made! I will be 51 yo this month. I finished my Associates in Nursing on my birthday last year, currently working on my Bachelor's in Health Science in Management and pray to be done by this time next year. And the only reason it is taking me a little longer, is that the company I work for is sending me all over the U.S. for further training in my field. My employment has already offered to pay for my Master's when I finish this current degree. I too, had thought about sitting back, but what the heck? If it is paid for and I still have the "education bug", WHY NOT!!

    Default Grad school

    Dee,

you're just a youngster. I am 54, just finished up the last of 51 credits I still needed for my BSBA- Mgmt started in fall of 1973. I WAS going to Marylhurst for MBA, but changed my mind- great school/delivery, just not excited about concentrations. I am looking at Harriott-Watt (?) Edinburgh Business School and would love to read info from anyone. It appears that you CAN do an accredited MBA by testing out. I have read some over on DegreeInfo forum/John Bear, but any input is appreciated.

    Thanks, Greg

Smile graduate schools attended/planning to attend?

I thought it would be interesting to see what graduate schools are being attended or you are planning to attend after getting bachelors at one of the big 3?

While I am not attending the Big Three, I am currently an online student at Ashford University with an expected graduation date of August 24th of this year. With two more CLEP tests to go, I will have received 22 credit hours thanks to CLEP testing. I plan to continue at Ashford with studying for an MBA right after I receive by bachelor's degree.

I have to ask...how did you end up with 22 credit hours? To my knowledge, all of the CLEP/DSST exams are 3 or 6 credit hours...so where did the extra credit come from?

At Ashford University, Natural Sciences (or any of the sciences) is worth 4 credit hours to fulfill the general educational requirement for a science.
