Default Another degree from different school?

    Hi all,

I grad with my BSIT from UoP in March. I dont start my MBA program untill the fall(or maybe even the following spring!). Thats a 6 month gap i really dont want to have and get out of the school/learning mode. I was wondering if its possible to get a second degree in this time via exams from TESC or Excelsior? Or maybe does anyone know how a Minor works at UoP as with everything else my AC doesnt have the answer for me and will get back to me(been waiting 3 weeks already).

Basically, I think the 6 months will be detrimental to me, and would rather do something constructive in that time.
    Thanks for the help!

    AKay,

A second degree involves earning 30 credits beyond your first degree, and the fulfillment of all requirements for the second degree.

Depending on what your interests are, how fast you can prepare for exams, which credits you have already earned etc., you might very well be able to earn a second degree within the next six months.

30 credits is only TEN exams, so it's very doable!

Likely suspects for a second degree at Excelsior would include Psychology, Liberal Arts, or Business.

You will need to decide which subject you are most interested in, research which exams would be needed to complete the major, and evaluate the credits you have already earned to see which can be applied to the second degree.

We can help you figure things out, but obviously we'll need to have more info from you.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi AKay,

You can download the School of Business catalog from the following link:

    https://www.excelsior.edu/pls/portal...ations_Request

If you haven't done so already, you will need to register for a free username. The catalog will outline all the details for you.

However, here are the basic requirements for a BS in General Business:

    University-wide Requirements:
    3 Written English Requirement
    1 Information Literacy

    Supporting Requirements:
3 Ethics (ECE version counts as Upper Level)
3 Organizational Behavior (ECE version counts as Upper Level)
    3 College Algebra (or above)
    3 Statistics

    Business Core Requirements:
    3 Computers
    3 Marketing
    3 Management
    6 Accounting (Managerial and Financial)
    3 Business Law
    3 Finance
    3 Operations Management
    3 Business Policy
    + Business Electives as necessary
+ At least 12 Upper Level Business Credits (not counting any of the above CORE courses).

This particular major requires a minimum of 45 total credits. Obviously, this would involve taking more exams than other majors, but chances are that you have already passed some of the requirements, right?

Let us know if you have any other questions,
    Snazzlefrag
