    Default History I CLEP

I am going to take the History I test early next week and was wondering if any of you have taken it and if you had any helpful tips to share.

I read one CLEP study book that was pretty decent and I can cruise through the flashcards and get only one or two wrong per section.

    Any Suggestions??

    Thanks!

You're talking about US History I, right?

You sound like you have a good grasp on the materials. I would try to take some practice tests before taking the exam. Aside from the one in the CLEP Official Guide, REA's tests are indicative of what to expect for the real thing (also, the review guide covers some materials not touched on in IC). Overall, this exam is easier than US History II.

Hope it goes well for you. Tell us how you did!

    Welcome to the IC-Forums-Classroom!

US History 1 is perhaps an exam of moderate difficulty if you're not too familiar with the time period involved or if you're just not prepared whatsoever.

IC can solve both of those issues!

First - take a look at the "Specific Exam feedback" section; there is an incredible amount of information there.

Second - Use the "SEARCH" feature and just type in whatever you're looking for and you should find many older threads related to your search.

Third - Feel free to use other sources outside of IC, there are many.

    Good Luck!!

Sounds like you'll be fine. I did the flashcards, knew most of the material, but certainly couldn't make it with only one or two wrong per section - and I still passed with a 61, which really isn't too bad. So if you know the questions that well, I'd say you'll do great. Just remember Balboa and de Soto and the conquistawhachamacallums!

Wait...your signature says you passed with a 62, which of course is better than 61. Which was it?

Hmmm........I think it was 62. I may have been getting mixed up with A&I literature when I said that, which was 61 (I think ) I'll have to check the records!

An obvious tip is to concentrate your studying more heavily towards the 1790-1877 era. Since this is more then double the earlier period then your time should be spent likewise.
