I emailed excelsior in regards to new requirements
for the focus on the Bachelor of Science Liberal Studies.
I was told a student must have a focus in 21 credits in
EITHER an applied science OR arts and sciences with
a minimum of 6 upper credits. The previous program
required a minimum of 12 credits in both applied sciences
AND arts and science with at least 3 upper credits in each.
I talked to an advisor and she didn't have any updated
Information. The material on their website has not been
updated.
Does any body know about this change?

i am faced with 2 choices for my 2nd concentration.
Psychology by testing
for Psychology, maybe
ECE 355=Psychology of Adulthood & Aging* 3.0 / U
ECE 356=Research Methods in Psychology* 3.0 / U
ECE 357=Social Psychology** 3.0 / U
ECE 459=Abnormal Psychology* * 3.0 / U
Or
History
DSST: Civil War and Reconstruction
DSST: Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union*
ECE 215 World conflicts since 1900
(i have another LL history course already taken)
Reading HISTORY is boring but which of exams are more bearable. ECE or DSST.
I will use that to choose my path. I just want this whole degree D-O-N-E asap!

Hi Clep fam!!
I am soo grateful for every comment and review of clep courses! I will be Lord willing done with my TESC BA journey next month!! It has taken me a little under two years and almost 5k in total clep/dsst/straighterline ext!!!
I am interested in the generous tuition reimbursement program Verizon offers. For those of you that don't know, they offer tuition assistance starting day one and its 4k a year for part time employees and 8k for ft!!
I am having a really heard time finding out if Verizon has a time commitment requirement in their tuition assistance policy. I know most companies require at least a year of employment w/ Verizon after receiving assistance.
Any information much appreciated!

SL's email to me today identifies Albany State (GA) as a new partner. When you go down the list, you'll see they don't accept everything, but they do offer letter grades like crazy! P.S. Just so any of you don't get any crazy ideas about completing a degree with them, they charge $900 per credit ;p Yes, that's $108,000 BEFORE room and textbooks. At about $100 per class for books, that's another 4ish grand, plus they charge $3500 per SEMESTER for housing... (times eight, carry the one.....) holy smokes that's expensive. $140,000 for an undergrad degree.
They have only 1 undergrad fully online program (business).

Hello Forum -
This list was sent to me by someone who is looking to complete their AS with EC; only a mere 21 credits are needed. At present they would like to complete their degree solely through couses (such as Penn Foster etc). I am looking for "coursework" suggestions that may indeed be similar to Penn Foster (ACE Reviewed) and also economical too.
Thanks all!!

TESC BSAST in IT, newbie getting started |

Hello. I have been working as a computer programmer for the past 25 years, and am planning to finally get a degree in it. I live in NJ, so I registered at TESC. I had 3 colleges send them my transcripts, and received 39 credits out of the required 120. I find their "evaluation" very difficult to read, so I am not entirely sure what classes I need to take to get a degree in BSAST in IT. Their printouts look like something that came off a 1980s dot-matrix printer. I am pretty sure I have to take Algebra I & II and Statistics, but not Calculus.
After reading through this forum, I see there are lots of ways to minimize the time and cost of getting a degree at TESC. I'm not overly concerned with the time or money, I just want to get a degree within a few years. It has been more than 6 months since I registered at TESC, and I have lost the ability to sign in to some parts of their website. Apparently I will get full access again, after signing up for classes. I was not happy to lose access because I had not signed up for any classes (after I had paid a registration fee). It felt like a pressure tactic, but maybe they need a way to keep people from lurking on their system indefinitely.
I prefer to teach myself things, rather than have to listen to someone else. I am interested in taking classes where I can instruct myself. I'm not sure how the ACE/CLEPS work, but it looks like people take some tests, then transfer the credit to TESC if they can get a certain score (or better). That might be a good fit for me. I live a few hours from their physical campus, so I might be able to go there to take tests, rather than do it over the web (if that is allowed).
I purchased the book that TESC uses for their Algebra classes, so that I can work through it as I have time. When I am able to take the class, I should already know the material. I am nervous about taking the first math classes, especially if I have to take a remote test, so I will probably learn the material first. That is probably a dumb way to do it, but I don't want to struggle with the online system and have to learn new material (though Algebra should be easy). The TESC website seems to be disorganized and quite terse, though I have not used it much yet (perhaps it gets better).
This website appears to be devoted to the Clep exams, but the forums here seem to be the best ones for TESC. I haven't even seen the official TESC forum (if there is one).
If anyone has any suggestions about the TESC BSAST in IT, please advise. I will continue to read on the forum, and post questions.
thanks!

Hello all,
New guy here! Anyhoots, I just finished intermediate algebra through ALEKS and scored a 79 on my first assessment. I registered with ACE and am waiting for credit approval. I notice the info ALEKS has on a student is very limited. Other than a username, email and the name you register with, they really dont have much info. So how is it that ALEKS is able to verify exactly who ACE is inquiring about?

Received TESC evaluation -- reconsidering COSC |

I received my TESC evaluation, and didn't get the best news for BSBA CIS or Liberal Studies. I have 38 credits needed for the Bachelors in Liberal Studies, or 42 for either the BSBA-gen management, or BSBA-cis. I do have enough for the AAS in Applied Computer Studies degree though.
I have a few different options from here...
1. TESC Liberal Studies + AAS Total cost will be approx. $4550
2. TESC BSBA - Gen Management + AAS, $4650
3. Both Bachelor degrees + AAS (I have no plan for a masters degree) approx. $6050
OR I could go with COSC, and get a Bachelors in Individualized Studies (business, marketing, and applied computer studies) which will cost me about $3500, but will take longer. Love the cost...not the actual classes because I've been a bit burnt out in that area.
I don't NEED any particular degree, but would like to have some marketability if I ever did have a need. With that being said...what do you think is my best option? Multiple degrees, or just one that is more targeted towards my strengths?
Thanks in advance.
