Law School Conundrum
#11
agreed on speaking to a professional about the matter.
TESU March 2020 Graduation
--ASNSM Mathematics
--BSBA Accounting
--BA Computer Science

University of Alaska Fairbanks (December 2021 Graduation Goal)
--MBA (2/10 : 4.0)

I started this journey in the summer of 2016.  I hoped to be done sooner, but I am still proud of the rate at which I have gotten my schooling done with respect to the many months of military training and deployments I have undergone.

First of all, I am finishing my degree at TESU so I also can apply for Law School. I often think about my background and worry that I too would have trouble explaining why I have so many credits from all over and that patchwork over 20 years = "my education" and finally I got a BA.

I say this because
A- I think we always worry about things that may be less relevant to law schools which see "Grit" as positive.
B- I had a friend with a drug history, arrest, several rehabs visits, low LSAT, patchy undergrad grades, and he kept applying over and over and finally got in after multiple trys. He is now an attorney for criminals. He recently ran an unsuccessful campaign for a judgeship.

My point is, his background was 100x worse than your issue and with persistence you, and I, will make it. He probably will run again for a judgeship. And maybe a couple of times more after that. I think, eventually, he will get it.

Now imagine our community value to having a judge wth real empathy, understanding, and knowledge of what it takes to get clean.

Imagine how his "skill set" to look somebody straight in the eye and just make a decision if this person is ready or not to get serious about rehabilitation.

I have no point of reference. He would be a better judge than I and a better person to make that decision because of his supposed "flaws."

I would not lie. I would be honest and be prepared to show countless times how you are ready to turn those experiences into value going forward.

LSAT Dec 2? Wish you the best.

You are very much on your way to entering a "distinguished" profession full of alcoholics, addicts, narcissists, and the depressed. Go get em!
