Yes, but just think of the excellent customer service that buys you... not to mention the high-quality studio picture that's included in the price!Originally Posted by brothert69

Actually the customer service was good this trip. I was in and out in under 30 minutes and the young lady that helped me was very polite. My problem with the fees is that I'm not getting anything more than I would have if my license was up for renewal last year when I would have been out the door for under $100.Originally Posted by burbuja0512
Also even with the unusually good service this trip NY DMV still doesn't have anything on Florida. Last time I was down there I was in and out in under 15 minutes with my permanent ID not just a bs temporary paper license.
Reminds me of Florida. NY DMV has something for active duty military to extend license expirations for up to 6 months from discharge but you have to file a form before your license expires otherwise you have to jump through a bunch of hoops and send all kinds of supporting documents to Albany and wait forever. Albany moves like a glacier VERY VERY slowly.Originally Posted by CLEP101
Wow. Just another reason not to live in the North. I bet the excessive price has to do with paying ridiculous union negotiated wages.
My license in AZ is good until 2050. That has nothing to do with my Military status that is just how it is. I think I paid about $40 for it in 2006.
EDIT: Further research indicates I probably paid $25 for my license and I am only required to update my picture every 12 years at no cost. The 2050 expiration date is because licenses are good until your 65th birthday. Did I also mention that in AZ we can now carry concealed without a permit? God bless Arizona.

All the gun talk is interesting on the IC forum. I guess people that take charge of their education are the take charge type in other facets of life as well. Florida does pop you $55 for three years of concealed carry...but its a shall issue state!
I'm unhappy about the increase in auto tag renewal down here... a year or so ago it was about $35 a year. 2 weeks ago I paid a whopping $88. Crazy!

You guys are so lucky! My brother is in MN they also allow concealed carry up there. In NJ we have to carry our weapons in a locked case separate from ammo. You must travel from home to range/competition and back with minimum deviation or take a chance getting into trouble if pulled over. It sucks! Reminds me that I need to send in my paperwork for the concealed carry multi-state permit; can't use in NJ but it’s great when traveling.
Back to the thread title...NJ license renewal $24 -- crazy that just over the bridge is $188.
