This is an odd question, but here goes. (I'd asked a friend who was going to help me, but he became very busy and wasn't able to assist after all...)
I recently happened across a Web site belonging to a photographer (most of the content is the actual galleries), and I'd like to e-mail the person -- among other reasons, he sells prints of his works -- but it's what I believe is Portuguese. It doesn't appear that he speaks English. Anyone know a possible resource, or have any ideas, that I might be able to use (or speak the language themselves)? Unfortunately, translation engines like Babelfish are terrible and no good for writing anything in a language one doesn't know. Again, odd request, but if any ideas, I'd appreciate it. |

Free Online Translator.
I use this sometimes... But I don't really know of a site that would be efficient enough to carry on conversations with... sorry... |

I work in an office where the secretary/administrator speaks some Portuguese. Connected to our office is another one, run by a man who speaks some Spanish.
I showed them an excerpt of the text (from this person's Web site). The two people decided -- it's not Portuguese! It's similar, but not quite. Well, I looked and found that it's Catalonian! Kind of like a dialect of Spanish, but not actually. That's an even more uncommon language, I think. I'm guessing no one here speaks it -- or knows anyone who does. (But correct me if I'm wrong!) Hmm. I was thinking of perhaps getting in touch with one of the English-speaking contributors/editors to the Catalan-language version of Wikipedia. I've found a few such people. Any thoughts on how to ask such a favor? |
