    Default I need some advice

I have not been on the forum much for a while, mostly because I haven't been doing much about college for a while. I wasted 4 months of my last years TESC tuition and 1 month of this years just procrastinating.

I don't know if it is just because I am tired in general, because after all this time I am still not sure what I want to do when I grow up, or am I just lazy and now that the courses or test are goiing to take more work I just can't be bothered.

I have all the books and study guides I could want, but the thought of starting to study for Physics or Calculus is just putting me off.

I started to look into a FEMA course, but ir just seemed like too much reading.

I finally started to study for the Social Science and History CLEP I just can't decide if it will be as easy as it seems or I should just go take it.

Could it just be college burnout? My original goal was just to get my AA and be happy with that. Should I just say enough is enough and save my money to pay for my sons college.

Has anyone else ever slacked off for this long and gotten back into it?

Don't stop. Just take 1 course and run through it. You just need to focus narrowly for a bit. If need be take one FEMA, set up the exam beside it and make it your project of the week or weekend. Then pick another one. Your pace will pick up.

    To begin with ONE Fema.

I agree. Never give up!! Never surrender!! Yes, I stole that quote from Galaxy Quest, but the idea was all mine

Honestly, if you don't know what you want to be when you grow, it's ok. I still don't. Neither does my mother and she has her MBA

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll be at the finish line before you know it. And a LOT faster than those who dropped out of the race.

Don't give up! The FEMA's aren't that bad. I have just gotten 9 credits out of the way in less than 2 weeks with FEMA's.

    Good luck -

    Linda,
So nice to see you again! I hope you have enjoyed your nice break.

You mentioned saving money- well FEMA is free. Also, you sid you didn't want to read, you don't really need to read the FEAMs. You can print off the study pages and simply have them in front of you while you complete the quiz on line looking up answers as you go (shhhh....).
up to 27 credits- no reading- no studying- for free.

Also, yes you should be happy with your AA- but that's not the same question as "should I earn my BA?" It's not an "either/or" question my dear friend, you can do both.

    A few questions for you:

    1. Are you enrolled at TESC now? When is your anniversary with them?
    2. Is you holiday season a lot of down time, or is it more crazy than ever?
    3. Are you enjoying you work at the school now with your AA?
    4. Would the BA allow you to get a better job?
    5. Is your son resentful that you finished your AA before him?

LOL That looks like a quiz, sorry!

I don't have much to add- I agree with the previous posts. I just want to say that we support you every step of the way and we know you can reach any goal you set. Don't worry about taking time off- go at your own pace.

Is there another exam on your list that you can begin to prepare for? Sometimes I burn out when I study a certain subject for too long, and mixing it up helps hold my interest. Have you taken a practice test for the SS&H CLEP? If you're ready, passing another exam may also be a great jump start.

    Smile step by step

    Linda,
You'll get there step by step. You've taken the first step by posting. I would recommend your second step be deciding which test you're going to study for, and the 3rd step being to start on the IC Cards or books you need for that test.

You can do it! If you feel discouraged, post -- we're here for you.

Smile Thank you to all that replied

I appreciate all the support and encouragement. I have been busy substitute teaching and then I got sick. I have found a little time here and there to study while I was sick. I wanted to take the Social Science and History CLEP , but I don't know if I will get a chance until next year.

I leave early tuesday to fly back down to Myrtle Beach.. Once I get there I have to do all my Christmas shopping, then prepare for my whole family: my mother, sister and her husband & kids, my husband, 2 sons, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter and maybe my brother: all to gather, arriving different days in different ways some for as short as 2 days. I am the one who has been coordinating all of this so it is really important to me that it all work. We haven't all been together in over a year.

After Christmas I will drive my mother down to Florida to visit my Aunt and Uncle, then I finally get back to NJ the second week in Jan.Hopefully then I will have a chance to get back to school work.

Maybe if I can find a few free moments here or there I will try a FEMA course over the holidays.

Anyway I probably won't be online much so I want to say

    Merry Christmas

    Happy New Year

    Happy Holidays

to everyone. I look forward to catching up next year.
