    Default gmat required?

    Hi all,

I'm starting to plan for b-school ... it's a little early yet (three semesters to go on my undergrad) but I'm excited to figure out my next step. I see quite a few top-ranked programs offering an executive MBA, often referred to as an eMBA. These programs typically meet once per week, all day - and many of them follow the same sort of pattern, alternating Fridays / Saturdays - which seems doable to me.

Both Maryland Smith School and GW University indicate that gmat scores may not be required for the eMBA programs. Example -

    MBA Comparison Chart

The Smith MBA - Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park

Does may not be required mean that applications with a gmat score would be looked on more favorably? I don't want to spend two / three months studying for the gmat if I don't have to. I guess I'm looking for some real world experiences here to help me figure out if I should plan on taking the gmat.

    Thanks!

    Matt

You might want to review what type of material will be on the GMAT and if you're comfortable with those types of questions just review lightly and then take it, I scored a 690 with no prep and someone else I'm familiar with scored a 700 with little / no prep.

    Default gmat

    thanks cook / bawhitsett,

spoke to a friend who took the gre who had the same advise - go on and just take it, see how you do. So I guess I'll buy one review book - spend a couple weeks and then take it. If you had one catch-all guide to recommend, what would it be?
