BCS Debate
In the two years I have been here there has not been one post regarding sports. Well here it is! Did the BCS get it right with Oklahoma and Florida this year? Secondly, how would you guys fix the BCS system or is it even broke?

I know it's very old-fashioned of me, but I agree with what Bo Schembechler used to say back in the '60s. These are supposed to be student athletes, not minor league professionals. Their practice schedule, eleven or twelve games, and possibly a bowl game is plenty. They're supposed to be studying and working toward their degree. Bo never cared about a national championship, and always focused on winning the Big Ten.
I think college athletics, particularly football and basketball, have gotten way out of hand. In the end, does it really matter which school's football team is named the national champion? They should just forget about it and go back to the old style bowl games based on traditional division rivalries. Let people argue about who's number one, because they will anyway. -Gary-

What is BCS?
I'm a hunter and fisherman and spend most of my time outdoors. I don't follow sports that much. I usually don't know who is playing in the Superbowl until the day of the game.

BCS stands for bowl championship series in college football. There is a computer system that decides who will play in the top games based on a complex number of factors, record, schedule strength, points scored, points allowed etc that is always under constant debate!
