New PLA program coming at TESC
#1
Just noticed this in a survey at TESC, thought I'd pass it along:

Quote:Currently, students who want to earn credit for what they already know must:

a. register for each 3-credit PLA course separately

b. develop a separate portfolio for each course, no matter how many credits they expect to earn

c. pay the same tuition for PLA courses as for regular College courses

The College is planning to transition to a system that allows students to enroll in a single portfolio development course that:

a. provides advising and guidance

b. explains the portfolio development process

c. can lead to multiple credits for multiple courses and subject areas

In this model, a student pays tuition for the portfolio development course (eligible for financial aid) and then a fee for evaluation, rather than tuition for the credits to be earned. For students with 6 or more PLA credits, this will be less expensive.

That's pretty cool. I never took any PLA courses because they don't really save much time or money.
