2 New edX Microbachelor's Programs From SNHU
#1
Information
Business Analytics Foundations

Data Management with Python and SQL

- Both comprised of 2 courses
- Both cost $996(before any scholarships/discounts)
- Both may apply for credit at SNHU: "Pending admission, learners with verified microcredentials may apply credit to SNHU degree programs."
- No mention on TESU evaluating them for credit yet(or planning to)
- Scripting with Python is the first course for both programs so it can apply towards both.

TESU microbachelor credits didn't work. I tried to transfer TESU microbachelor credits to at least three universities but they were rejected.
The credits can be used as electives at TESU but other institutions won't like them.

I'm not sure about this new SNHU credits. If SNHU can give letter grades on transcript, credits may transfer to other schools.

Computer Science Fundamentals.

It won't transfer as elective.
Also, no letter grades = no transfer ..... Angry

It's quite surprising that Edx planned MicroBachelor so clumsily. None of their credits are 'transferable' until they fix letter grade problems.
And the courses must be taken directly through TESU website because many universities are against courses taken through Edx.

That really sucks that they won't transfer. I'd gone back and forth about doing the NYU one. Glad I didn't now.
Out of curiosity, would you be willing to blur out your name and show us what the Microbachelor certificate looks like? (I'm always curious about certs.)

I did complete the program. But this won't transfer to any university other than TESU.
Don't expect courses without letter grades to transfer.

Also, the courses should be implemented on TESU website so we can take the courses through TESU site, not Edx.
Other schools don't take Edx courses very seriously. These should be branded as TESU course somehow.

So this is an example of clumsy business.
Edx guys obviously never tried to transfer any of the MicroBachelor credits by themselves before they advertise 'transferable credits' lol

That's a shame! Can I ask which unis you tried to transfer it to? I did the computer science fundamentals one at the same time as another RA intro to programming/CS course so they overlap anyway.

FIU, SUNY and a UK university.
They'll ignore the credits without letter grades and university course page.
This will apply to many other legitimate brick & mortar universities.

I'm not sure about online schools like Strayer University, Capella University.
Online universities may accept transfer credits from MicroBachelor because they're more generous.
But there's no chance at popular brick and mortar universities.

Please request TESU to give letter grades for the MicroBachelor courses!

registrar@tesu.edu

Here's another new MicroBachelor course from Doane University:
Business and Professional Communication for Success
https://www.edx.org/microbachelors/doane...or-success

However, these should be fixed before they move forward:

- Letter grades
- Official course description page on TESU website
- Official syllabus link on TESU website
- Possibly offer the courses through TESU website
- Brand the courses as TESU course

SNHU just confirmed that these MicroBachelor courses will show up with 'T' grades (transfer) on their transcript.
There's no way to transfer these courses out of SNHU lol

That's pretty lame. It seems the execution of the microbachelor's program has fallen short of it's aspirations if they're not even implementing it in a manner that would let students transfer their courses.
