Ok I have a few questions I was hoping maybe someone can give me some answers on before I talk to my advisor today. I am going to Ecelsior pursuing a degree in Sociology. I am at 105 credits. I am going to seek approval for the Capstone.
However I realized it really is not a whole lot of classes to get a second major in History. I was originally a history major years ago at Harvard Extension. I had been intent on just getting a Sociology major as I work in Human services now and was leaning towards social work, however I have now worked towards a focus in administration and am considering human resources. However ever since I was a young child I had wanted a degree in history originally planning to be a hisory teacher and then later when going o Harvard Extension I was working at a museum. So now I am really considering a second major because I might want my options open to go back into public history because I truely loved it.
Ok here is my question if you do a second major do you have to take two capstones or could you take just one? Also to get permision for capstone need to be within 15 credits of graduating which I am 15 credits away from 120 but if I get a second major will need to take a bit more than 15 credits. I mainly need western civ I and II and histiography. The capstone in history would count for histiography so if I could just take one capstone and took that one then would gain that wthout extra class.
Also the requirements for history major has changed since I enrolled would I be under requirements from time I enrolled like my Sociology major or would I be under then new standards for second major? If I told my advisor now of plans for second major would that delay my approval for capstone? I want this term to be last term I need to do and want to do everything else by testing in the next two months and have everything finished in Feb. I can always take histiography through BYU but if I could satisfy it with capstone that would be good.
