Hm... I took a few DSSTs at DeVry in Fremont, CA back in 2012 and they charged me nothing. Is/was this standard policy at DeVry or did I just get lucky?

I think it's standard. I wasn't charged a testing fee in San Antonio, but I only went there once because the test administrator was always too busy to administer tests. I went to Wayland Baptist for most of my tests and paid $20 instead. The closest Devry to me now is 42 min. away not accounting for the awful traffic in Austin. If I were to drive to Devry now, it would take me almost three hours because of an accident currently on IH-35. The other option would be to take a 1 hour trip on the toll road that charges $18 per 40 miles. I'm only going to take CLEP/DSST when absolutely necessary.
