ALEKS
#1
I've exhausted my search engine looking for the answer to this question.  I've been sitting on the sidelines for years now and it's finally time to pull the trigger.  I know back when I first started my quest, ALEKS allowed you to "Assessment" out of a particular course and receive credit, i.e. if your assessment was higher than 75%, you could submit for credit with ACE.  Is that still the case?

Yes, 70% is all you need, they have a few courses that are ACE credit. Having said that, I would skip ALEKS altogether... You can try the CSM Learn course for $39 and then with Sophia.org, you can do College Algebra & Statistics, open book, non-proctored, and take other courses all for $99/month, 2 at a time, unlimited courses. You can get CLEP/ModernStates if you want to go to a testing center and it's free (reimbursed).

Absolutely.  If I thought I could pass College Algebra without much work, I'd sign up for ALEKS in a heartbeat.  I don't particularly love them for learning, but they can't be beat for testing out.

And, you can do 3 ACE-recommended courses (you can do more, but you can't get credit for certain courses AND other courses, so this is the best bet for actual credit):
 - College Algebra
 - Trigonometry
 - Intro to Statistics or Business Stats or Stats for the Behavioral Sciences

And you just need 70% to pass the course (although you need 70% on an exam, not 70% overall, which is different - the course gives you a score for both exams and coursework, so you want to make sure that you score 70% on an actual exam).  Last time I did it years ago, one was green and one was blue.
