The American School Counselor Association has reduced its online specialist training programs to $29 for member and $49 for non-members. That is down from $99/$249 normally.
https://www.schoolcounselor.org/school-c...ent/asca-u
Lindenwood University awards three graduate credits for each course at $75 per credit hour or $225 total. This means that it costs $274 for 3 credits for non-members. That is a pretty good deal.

Here are the specialist programs. Note that the asterisked programs are not eligible for graduate credit:

Hmm, there are 10 courses with 3 credits each, that totals 30 credits for just $2750... are there any universities that will takes this into a Masters program? Would Lindenwood have a Masters that can utilize these credits? I wonder, that's an entire masters degree worth of credits right there for just $2750! If it's a Masters in Social Counseling, that would work already, or a MALS / MS Pro Development with a concentration in counseling...

The PDF from Lindenwood that's posted on the ASCA page ( https://www.schoolcounselor.org/asca/med...cket_1.pdf) states this:
"Up to six hours of credit can be applied toward requirements of the Master of Arts in Education degree at Lindenwood University. Graduate credit may not be counted toward degree certification."
Also, it seems to be graded credit:
"[After completing an ASCA course] ASCA will submit grades to Lindenwood University’s Coordinator by the end of each semester. The standard A, B, C, or F grading system will be utilized."

Dang. It would be so great if it could be combined into a graduate certificate (if not degree).

Amberton University takes up to 12 graduate credits in transfer, and they have several Counseling degrees and specializations available. The content of these courses seems like a perfect fit. Amberton is insanely cheap anyway, so this would make it even more so.
People were cobbling together the 12 credits through VESI back in the day, but these options would make a lot more sense.
EDIT: People were using VESI to get the Professional Development degree, because that can be a mix of different subjects. This would open up the possibility for cheaper Counseling degrees for those interested, so they wouldn’t have to explain an MPD to employers, which I think is awesome. Just wanted to clarify.

Just a reminder that the courses will jump back up from $49 to the regular $249 asking price on May 31, so register soon if you want to jump on any of them. They are accessible for a year after the date of payment.

Nevermind. I see where the graduate credit is only available from Lindenwood. Amberton is out. Still some neat little courses for cheap. And they stay good for 5 years. Still would look good on a resume or mixed with other skills.
