This is general - some schools do it differently, so you have to look it up if you're talking about a school other than the Big 3 for instance.  But many many schools do it this way.

Upper Level courses are generally harder and often build up knowledge you have from a Lower Level course. Schools require a certain amount of UL credits in your major.

In relation to alternative credits: At Study.com, most UL courses require papers to be written or other assignments. UL TECEP exams have short essays unlike the LL TECEP exams (although there may be exceptions).
Working on second TESU degree. Graduate in June or Sept?
First Masters complete. Choosing next Masters / grad cert.
TESU BSBA (with ASNSM) in March 2018.

To add to this just because an alternative provider, such as Study.com (but not limited to) has a course labeled as XYZ:303 does not mean that is it automatically UL (at any school).  You should confirm fist that it has been recommended that way through ACE or NCCRS, and then confirm how your school of choice takes it.  TESU generally takes it as recommended now, but COSC takes some LL recommendation as UL. Point being - don't assume the courses # is what indicates if it is LL or UL.

Keep in mind that the company or college assigning a number is awarding a level, but then if you're sending that credit ELSEWHERE to be evaluated, it may get a different number. For example, just because Studycom says something is 321, that doesn't mean TESU will agree. TESU could bump it up - or send it down. So once you send a course somewhere, the number may change up or down.

Thanks - I corrected my typo (COSC takes some LL recommendation as UL - & vice versa)
