My understanding is that if you take a TECEP or Ohio University exam, you're earning credit from those colleges and that is why they aren't ACE-evaluated. However, ECEs and Uexcels are ACE-evaluated. I'm assuming that Uexcels are just ACE credits since they come on a separate transcript. For ECEs, are you actually earning RA credit from Excelsior or are you earning ACE credit? The reason why I'm asking is because I need to choose between two CCs for an associates in biology. I have to choose which one I'll be finishing my residency requirements with. One accepts ECEs and the other will only accept CLEP and AP. If somehow the latter college only sees Excelsior credits on a regular, Excelsior transcript, they might just inadvertently accept the ECEs.

I have a variety of credits on my EC transcript and all my credits earned through EC are listed under Excelsior college. The only way to know which is an exam and which is a course is the exams course ID ends in "x" for exam. It isn't seperate on my transcript like CLEP and DSST is, so unless the advisor at the CC knows or asks what the "x" on the end of the course ID number means ie: BIOX 210 is A&P ECE vs BIO 210 A&P course, they should transcribe as regular EC courses. I hope this helps. No one has ever questioned me on the difference and I have applied and been accepted at two other schools and I work in academia and my employer has never asked. Honestly, it is RA earned credit, so it shouldn't matter.

And from a purely practical matter, you can only use CLEP and AP for 100/200 level while ECEs go higher which is harder to come by. In addition, if someone takes ECE, they take CLEP/AP/DSST without a doubt.
