History vs Psych
#1
Hello All,

Looking at most of the degree plans on here, many of you are taking "Psych-type" Cleps and DSST's to apply toward a business degree at EC. Is there a particular reason for this that I'm missing in the Business Catalog?

The reason I ask: I think history would be much easier for me (US History I, II, American Government, Social Science and History, Civil war etc).

Yes I did a search. No I couldn't find a answer. I have not applied to EC yet. I know that would likely help me answer this, but I'm sure someone here knows the answer.

No there is no Psych requirement for a business degree at EC. All of them fill misc Arts and Science credits. There is an Ethics requirement but that is it. If you wanted to take more history you certainly could.

I believe the reason that most people tend to take the "psych-type" classes is that a lot of people base their plans off of the BAin4weeks plan or from someone who has. The reason THAT plan was heavy on the psych was that after getting a Business degree that plan makes an easy transition to a second Liberal Arts degree in Psychology by taking the GRE in Psych and earning the 30 credits you need at EC. Studying for and taking the GRE is obviously much easier if you have a background and had taken all those tests.

That is my theory at least.

Also the Psych exams overlap quite a bit with things like Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, and Labor Relations.
