Advice requested: accelerating a Bachelor's in Accounting or Business
#1
Your Location:
  • MN, US
Your Age:
  • 40
What kind of degree do you want?:
  • Ideally, a BS in Accounting or Business (Admin/HR/Operations Management, etc.).
  • Degrees are school-specific, based on a tuition benefit through my employer (list included below).
  • While Accounting is my top choice due to my 20 years of experience in the field, the most important aspect in choosing a degree at this point is the speed at which I can complete it.
  • I plan to pursue a master's degree in accounting, business, HR, data analytics, or a related field after earning a bachelor's degree. I do not plan to pursue a CPA license.
Current Regional Accredited Credits:
  • 0, due to credit age and/or applicability to the degrees I'm interested in.
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:
  • 0 - I recently enrolled in courses through Sophia Learning.
Any certifications or military experience?
  • No military experience.
  • I have certifications in a different field (healthcare) that would not be applicable, per the advisors I've spoken with.
Budget:
  • N/A - the degree will be covered by a tuition benefit through my employer.
  • I plan to cover the cost of the ACE credits so I can transfer in the maximum number of credits and accelerate.
Commitments:
  • I work part-time, 30-ish hours per week, in a flexible, self-directed role.
Dedicated time to study:
  • 30-ish hours per week.
Timeline:
  • 9-12 months (or less) would be ideal.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement:
  • Tuition assistance is provided through my employer, as outlined below. My preference would be a degree program covered at 100%, since I am aiming to accelerate. I'm open to the other options as well.

University of Massachusetts Global offers mypath for their BBA so the faster/harder you work the faster you could complete the program. Working part time and having the flexibility will help you accelerate in a CBE program if you're looking at getting it done faster. I worked full time and competed my masters degree in a little over 6 months thanks to the CBE model.

Other options:

Western Governors University's CBE program: Their terms are 6 months and cost $3,830/term for undergrad. WGU also offers graduate business degrees in accounting, MBA, management and leadership, etc.

UMPI also offers CBE business degrees. Their terms are 8 weeks and cost $1,800 a term for undergrad. They also offer graduate degrees in Business and orginizational leadership.

Basically, the closest to having this to cheap, easy, fast, is by completing 90+ credits with Study.com at $95/month! You can then finish the remaining residency requirements at the institution of choice. What's better is that, these 90+ credits can to towards both institutions I recommend. Here's how I would use your tuition assistance or reimbursement to the max and get a double double! Two Bachelors 100% tuition, two Masters at $5250/year. I would take at least 1 year to finish the double Bachelors and not any faster.

UMass Global, BBA and MAOL. PUG BSc Analytics (Excel track option) and MBA (also Excel track option). All four of these programs are CBE (competency based)! Thus, you pretty much get the Bachelors for free, and the Masters if you finish 1 per year, they'll both be free too! Why I recommend Study.com vs other options, the provide 10-20% discount on tuition (as per transfer equivalency pages below). Your upfront costs are just the Study.com costs, the residency requirements are all 100% paid for by your company.

Last but not least, when you start your journey at Study.com, you can use my ambassador offer link for 10% off.
The link and information is in my Bio and/or signature.
