Aleks vs DSST Statistics
#1
Has anyone gone the route of getting credit for Statistics through ALEKS instead of taking the DSST for it?

I was planning to take the DSST pretty soon, but have discovered through the forums that ALEKS is an alternative, and appears to be a cheaper way of getting the credits. I have pretty much done all the studying for it and am ready to take the test, so from what I hear, if I go the ALEKS route, it would be likely that I could finish it very quickly, and it would cost just the $20 fee for one month.

Is that correct, or am I missing something? Also, I am now enrolled in TESC for a BSBA, and as best as I can tell, they should accept ALEKS credits even though I've seen nothing from their website regarding it.

Has anyone chosen ALEKS over DSST for Statistics?

I studied for the DSST stats test and started to worry about being able to pass it so I tried ALEKs as a way to learn and practice.
The user interface is great and the learning is real.
I ended up passing ALEKs in about 30 hours of work.
The next week I took ALEks business stats and completed the first exam they give you in 3 hours taking my time. I scored a 72 percent which is enough for a pass.

If you really know your stats you can work carefully through the first exam and if you get over a 70, you are done.

Do a search and read the posts on it. There are many.

I highly recommend aleks because you can do 2 stats classes and 2 other math classes for $20 if you can finish in a month and I think you probably can.

I did Aleks for my Statistics credit at TESC. It took me many months and about 100 hours, but I had never studied statistics before and besides my Aleks Beginning and Intermediate algebra I had not taken a Math course in over 20 years.
