Anyone finish Penn Foster Statistics?
#11
I finished test 2 of 4 last night with a 100% score. So, it's been about a month since I registered, and about 3 weeks since I received the course material and I'm half-way thru. I do not find time to work on it every day though, and I'm sure that someone better at math could move faster. I'm not sure if it's just me or what, but some of the test questions are a bit tricky (kinda DSST- like) even though the exam is multiple choice, untimed, open book, and you have all of the test questions in the study guide before the exam is taken (for the unproctored lesson exams). There always seems to be a few questions that I'm not quite sure about. Anyway, on to lesson 3!

If you haven't taken any of the proctored exams from Penn Foster you may want to know that they are timed 1 hour per exam, open book, non-multiple choice answers. I just took my financial management and tech math exams, I finished the financial management in the hour but ran out of time for the Tech Math exam. You may want to try to take your unproctored exams on a timed basis to see how you do. In retrospect I wish I had taken the algebra exams that way.

Did you find the questions on the final were similar in difficulty to those on the other unproctored exams? I'm not looking forward to the final with its time limit. I'm sure you did fine on yours. Too bad that you now have to wait for scores.

The questions were similar but I thought harder than those we had on the exams. You need to know the concepts and be able to work quickly, this was my concern with the tech math exam as I am not fast when it comes to algebra, I am just hoping for a pass on that one. I feel I probably did well on the financial management exam.

I might have overlooked something, but could one of you post a link to the Penn program? I'm looking for viable alternatives in Statistics and College Algebra, while still sticking to my goal for graduation by January. It sounds as if the Penn Foster might be the ticket if EC accepts the credits, but I can't find any specific info on the courses.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Edit: Please disregard. I found everything I could ever ask for on the subject by doing a forum search for "Penn Foster". Tongue

I slipped a little on exam #3 but still have a 97% avg going into the proctored final. I am dreading the 1 hour time limit of this exam though. Guess I better start preparing! One good thing though, if I do not get a passing grade on the final, the course has been a rather cheap preparation for the DSST exam (if I end up needing it).

I am sure you will do fine, but you do have a good outlook about the DSST option.

Was it difficult for you to get enrolled at Penn Foster? How long did it take to get your books and stuff?

I am also going for my B in General Business at Excelsior. Just curious - what upper level exams are you using for credit towards your degree.

Again Good Luck!

Thanks for the vote of confidence! This course is the one big roadblock for me, and I'll be glad to get it behind me, one way or another! Enrolling in the course was simple- a phone call and $185 was all it took, and the textbook and study guide was here in about a week (included in the cost of the tuition). You can find details about Penn Foster in the forum or I can provide you the info. As for my UL exams for my degree, they were ECE's: HR Mgmt, Org. Behavior, Ethics, and DSST Bus. Law 2. Good luck in your pursuit!

Penn Foster Business Statistics proctored final tomarrow at 10 AM. I'm not really sure if I'm ready or not- but I sure do have a bunch of stuff floating around in my head! I am hoping that my TI-83 will pull me thru the 1 hour time limit. I will post with my thoughts on the exam. Wish me luck!
