BALS - LIB495 and SOS110 Syllabus & Calendar

I just started in the January term, so only a week in. The Case Studies themselves are about 20 pages long each, but you should plan on reading 1-2x again in other sources, and there's also chapter required readings as well. 4-5 pages is the average length of the case study assignments I've done.

Thank you for the info.  I read where some say it may help to read the case studies ahead of time??  I wonder if that is possible? or If the case studies are even assigned in order?  This is probably a dumb question, but would it help to download Moodle early and practice on it some?  February will be a slower month here before starting March 1st.  Trying to use some time wisely.

Also which book did you purchase (ebook or regular) and where did you purchase? We typically buy hardbacks, but this Capstone book is a little pricey for 2. I wondered if the ebook with search capabilities would be worth it?

Reading the case studies ahead of time can't hurt, but I wouldn't recommend trying to write anything before starting the course. The assigned case studies (at least the first 4 out of 7) are the same from 2017 to January 2021, but I have heard they could change, although I doubt it. They are, in order:

1. Costco
2. Panera
3. Amazon
4. Tesla
5. LMVH
6. TOMS Shoes
7. Southwest Airlines

Moodle is an eLearning platform on a web browser, not something you download. I would not worry about that. If you're really nervous about it, you can try a demo at school.moodledemo.net, login 'student', password 'moodle'.

I bought the ebook from Amazon. I prefer to read stories (and I feel the case studies are more like stories) on the kindle, where for my other classes, I preferred a hard textbook. I didn't use the search function.

So the case studies ARE included in the eBook? I saw some posts/reviews saying that the eBook left out case studies and/or something else important so that the book couldn't be used. This is not the case?

My copy of the ebook (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSDVGD9/) has the case studies. I believe you need to make sure you get the one subtilted "Concepts and Cases" not just Concepts.

EDIT: This is the 21st ed., which is on TESU's current syllabus. It looks like the 22nd ed. has a few versions.

LIB495 doesn't have case studies because LIB495 isn't for business. Same with SOS110.

Do you know the topics o writing to see what kind is required so people like us who have anxiety could prepare in advance and  know what we’re getting into

I understand the anxiety of the unknown.
SOS110: Hopefully this can trim back some of the anxiety. There are several smaller written assignments (by small I think of 500 words ish) that build up to your final essay. It's essay length not full research paper length. The professor gave us a broad topic that we could select and then narrowed it down. Other assignments were to go along with the module content as you came to them and were there to give you practice at the skills being discussed. That can vary too much to be specific. Remember, you’ll have access to the course about 3 days before it officially starts. That was plenty for me to not be nervous. Mileage can change with terms and mentors.

LIB 495: Same idea again with smaller assignments that will build to the final research paper (25-40 pages which I think is common knowledge about that course). I'd recommend thinking about vocational goals and something you want to learn and share more about within that field. Even if tesu changes the capstone that kind of thinking will help you with the process you will need. Again, you’ll have access to the course a few days before it officially starts to see the calendar and details. It was enough for me to be ready.
