Hi everyone,
Would any of you happen to know about transferring ACE credits to UMUC?
I'm interested in pursuing the BS in CS at University of Maryland University College and according to their site, they can accept up to 90 credits
from different sources.

Any input from you guys would be very valuable.
Thanks,
Louis.

For ACE, it means that the credits should be recognized for college-level credits and not CEUs from attending an ACE-sponsored event (they have a bunch for people who work in higher education).
State University of New York National Program on Non-Collegiate-Sponsored Instruction is the former name of National CCRS. They are headquartered in New York and operate under the auspices of the University of the State of New York.

Thanks KayV and jsd.
In your opinion, do you think that UMUC can be comparable to TESU in terms of a CS degree?

You would still have to earn 30 credits from UMUC and I think we had a recent poster who said they had to be all upper level (at UMUC tuition prices, of course).
A lot of people here go with WGU or TESU, with a few choosing Charter Oak. You earn IT certs within the WGU program, which makes it a value if you don't have them already.
What is your end goal? Do you have any previous credits (list them if you do)? Really, the right choice is different for each person.

After obtaining a Bachelor's, I'd tentatively pursue a MS program in CS. So far, I have earned around 30 lower level credits and 12 upper level, so I still have a long way to go.
I was wondering which one is better in terms of reputation, ranking and of course, learning experience.

The devil's in the details. If those UL credits are in CS, then you could likely finish at TESU with alternative credit.
UMUC probably has slightly more name recognition simply because it has a state name in the name. Where were you thinking of going for the MS? Also, were you planning to work for a while first? If so, the work experience will weigh at least as much, if not more, than the school you get the bachelor's at.

I appreciate you insights, davewill. I have a mix of CS, Business and other GE credits. I've been thinking about pursuing a MS either at GATech or UIUC. BTW, I see that you are currently enrolled in the OMSCS program, congratulations on such an achievement!
I'll do some research about both programs, it is certainly hard to decide...

Been there, done that with UMUC. I wasn't a fan and went a different direction (but this is my personal experience and many people like the school). Here is an option you may consider. If you were able to transfer in 90 ACE credits and do the final 30 at UMUC, you're still looking at $15,000 just for tuition (if you are out of state or non-military). But, UMUC requires 45 upper level credits, plus additional credits in CS. Not sure what the cost goes up to, but it's going to be much higher. Alternatively, you can do any degree at the big 3 for cheap and then do OSU's one year post bacc CS degree for probably similar cost and shorter time. Or you can even do one at the big 3 directly, but I'm not aware of the cost.

PrLoko-isms
Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Thank you very much Prloko. Yes, I was considering the 45 UL credits requirement. Do you know if UMUC offers something similar to TESU's "Comprehensive Tuition Plan"?
Thanks again,
Louis.
