You only do some of the case studies so there's no point in reading all of them.  I would advise you to study as if you were taking the midterm and learn what is required.

I tried to do the same thing before I knew what the course was like.  LevelUp is correct.  You need to do it with the course because the writing depends on the reading so very much!

Reading chapters and making lists is a good plan.  It will certainly make things easier as you start your case studies, to have already done the reading and note-taking.  First thing to do once you enroll is to get the midterm study and start practicing the essays.  You will thank me later for this advice!
