Big Three ---> Selective grad school?
#1
Hi! I'm planning on earning my degree from Charter Oak but would also like to at least have the option to earn a more selective grad degree (my eyes are on a Chicago Booth MBA eventually  Big Grin ). Any personal stories about getting into top/selective grad schools of any sort after attending one of the Big Threes? Would going to a Big Three school hinder my chances for selective grad schools, especially if I earned a lot of my degree from CLEP exams and online courses?

Or does it just matter that you have a really strong GPA, interesting relevant experiences, and amazing GMAT/LSAT/MCAT scores?

Thank you so much!

I think it would be difficult to get into a M7 with a degree from the big three. Adcoms look at the whole application, so you'd need to compensate for attending a less competitive school. It might be doable if you were a minority with a great GPA and a GMAT of 700+.

Regardless of where you get your degree, they want you to be competitive beyond just having a bachelor's. Getting relevant, useful work experience and/or internships can go a long way.

I talked to the University of Chicago and they told me they care much more about your work experience than your undergrad and that the only things they pay attention to for your undergrad are GPA and if your college is accredited!

That's pretty much what I would expect, especially for an MBA or other professional master's.
