Black NYU Student Kept from Attending Class
#21
Obviously, he wasn't serious about dropping out. The school has mediated the issues between both students, and they've agreed to work things out.

I don't believe he was serious about dropping out, just emphasizing how hurt and sad he was.

I hope so.

NYU's independent student paper gives more details. The student, Mclaurin, received prior permission from the professor to attend class via FaceTime. His plan was to FaceTime his friend, another black student, but she wasn't able to go to class either. So, he emailed other students, and no one responded. After that, he emailed the professor about the situation, and she said he couldn't FaceTime. He was, instead, given an alternative assignment. One student later told him that they had a discussion in class and decided not to let him FaceTime.

@sanantone of course they will say that to save face. But why the need to discussion about something like that? Its so obvious what the reason was especially with that comment to back it up. Can't say its not about racism after having made a racist comment.

I would have liked to listen in on that class discussion they had to arrive at that conclusion to not let him face time.
