Yep. I don't get it. I don't work at any university. But I've seen it said in different places that AP is worth more than CLEP. However, if I've read Modern States correctly, anyone can take an AP exam; not just HS students. It's just that most HS grads choose to take CLEP or don't know that (re)taking the AP is even possible.

This link confirms: https://www.quora.com/Can-you-take-AP-ex...igh-school It also says that some colleges won't accept post-HS AP exams. It would be interesting to find out what the Big 3 think of post-HS AP exams.

I don't know how you would ever find a high school that would allow an outsider to come in and take the exam with their students. You can't even get into our high school. You have to buzz the window outside of the building and they come talk to you at the window to see what you need. If you're allowed in you are escorted directly to the office you need to go to and you're never left alone.

That's not all high schools, though. The ones I lived near didn't one single building; they were a bunch of buildings scattered across the campus. It's my understanding that security is stricter now but I don't think it would be impossible to find a sympathetic administrator who would allow you to sit the AP exams if you made prior arrangements. It's not like you'd be there every day; the AP exam is just one day.

Most high schools are like this nowadays due to the school shootings. Maybe some states are a bit more lax. You're not allowed in any building on the campus. The buildings are locked from the inside. They can get out but you can't get in. I don't know how you would find a sympathetic administrator who will break the rules to allow someone to sit for an AP exam when they can take a CLEP exam or other college courses. The AP exams haven't been given here since last year. The spring and summer ones were cancelled here due to COVID.

Oh so the AP exam isn't for you. Many colleges accept AP credits when high school students graduate. It's part of their application and enrollment. My sister transferred in enough AP credits that she reduced her 4 years down to 3.5 years. She graduated a whole semester early even after changing her major as a sophomore.

@Lacedonia4, how young is your son? I would recommend using Sophia.org since it's such an amazing deal, in addition to that, CLEP/AP with ModernStates.org will also net him some huge numbers of credits. I would refrain from the NCCRS credits unless there are courses that the ACE providers don't have, the main reason is because they do not have a "registry" to store the credits.

Does anyone have experience with the NYU language proficiency test for RA credit at COSC?

I asked COSC and received two different answers. I was told by one advisor that it is accepted for transfer and another advisor told me it is considered RA credit.

I am looking for confirmation as to whether it truly comes in as RA credit and not just accepted as part of the 90 allowable credit max from Cleps, Ace credits, etc

THanks!

I would ask the registrar's office. That's who will determine what the credits transfer in as not an advisor.

I was told by registrar that it won't fly as RA credit.
