COSC no longer accepts FEMA IS
#1
I initially posted it in sticky tread, but my post disappeared  Confused
I suggested to remove FEMA from the Wiki since COSC no longer accepts it:

  • As of June 1, 2020, Charter Oak State College will no longer accept in transfer FEMA Independent Study (IS) Courses. These courses will also not be accepted in our Credit Registry program. The College will continue to accept the FEMA courses that have been reviewed for credit by ACE. Please note: These are not the same as the FEMA IS courses.
    • Students will  have until 5/1/2020 to take the FEMA IS courses. They will then have until 6/1/2020 to send their transcripts to Charter Oak. No FEMA transcripts with IS courses will be accepted after 6/1/2020.
Note: Students may still open a FEMA Credit Registry until June 1: however, all FEMA transcripts must be received by June 1 as well. No exceptions will be made for transcripts that do not arrive by this deadline

Your original post is still there, but this is a better place for it, and a better post since you also include a reference and links.  Smile

I would've replied yesterday, but I hit the 20 post limit (sigh). I moved FEMA from free to just a source of credit, since it does seem to still work for Excelsior. For now.

Oh, for some reason I was under impression that COSC is (was) the only one taking FEMA IS.

They've been the only ones taking them as-is. But (as far as I'm aware) Excelsior will still take them if you get them transcripted through Frederick Community College for $88/credit. That's a bit much for alternate credit but can still be a cheap source of credit compared to some other places. For instance, Rio Salado is $200+ for credits and they get recommended a lot.
