Calculator use in TESU, Math
#1
I'm planning to do math via TESU and was wondering what calculators they do they "broadly" allow in their exams? Which one should I buy?
Thank you!

Broadly speaking: from the online syllabus that is showing for Mat 105 (math for liberal arts) and not from experience taking math at tesu (I took clep pre calc instead). "You are permitted to use a calculator (scientific, graphing, or financial) but may not use a calculator on a phone, PDA, or any similar device. The Desmos calculator will also be available in the Assessment Navigator during the exam."
be sure to check the online syllabus for the specific math class you are doing. I don't guarantee that desmos online is used in all.

If I saw that for a course, I'd pick from options allowed on ACT and use that such as ti83 or ti84 (graphing) or ti30xa (scientific). Remember you can buy used to keep cost down. But I'd also learn the online desmos as well since that might be available per the syllabus.

hopefully someone on this forum who has done math course at tesu will know specific one for specific course. But broadly speaking that is what I'd learn toward with the info shown online.

TI calculators may be more popular but Casio calculators are going to be less expensive. I can't remember which one I bought (I don't have it with me at the moment) but my Casio does everything that a TI does and cost me about half what a TI-83 would have cost. (It may be this one, but not sure: https://www.casio.com/products/calculato...cg50-prizm Mine was on steep discount at Staples, though.)

Calculators forbidden by ACT can be found here: http://www.act.org/calculator-policy.html

I am not taking math at TESU (yet) but I recently purchased an off-brand scientific calculator that does everything except graphing. It's a near-exact copy of this design: https://www.casio.com/products/calculato...-300msplus This thing is incredibly useful. Highly recommended.

Just an FYI, you can get any brand calculator you want as long as it is not on a Phone/PDA or similar device as per their note in the courses syllabus.

You can verify this by going into any math class and click the link for their syllabus.

Here's an example course and link: https://www2.tesu.edu/course.php?CourseCode=MAT-332&sem=

Note: You are permitted to use a calculator (scientific, graphing, or financial) but may not use a calculator on a phone, PDA, or any similar device.

I see, thanks for the desmos tip, I'll start with those. If this works for all TESU exams that'd be great!

Some schools don't allow graphing calculators in their exams, I'd just like to get used to operating the calculator appropriate for TESU exams/or purchase one if I won't have access to a proper computer in exams for any reason.

(I suppose even if I took the exam online they'd proctor my screen or potentially "dis allow computers"? Otherwise, people would probably just use wolframalpha?)
