Capstone Topic Suggestions
#11
Most of them should be peer reviewed and reasonably current. With the ones that aren't, be cautious what you rely on them for. You can sometimes use non reviewed sources to link you to reviewed sources.

The best way to figure out whether you have a viable topic is to try and write research questions for it. If you can write a main research question and 3-5 sub questions fairly easily, you have something that can likely work.

While the population idea may use a lot of data, luckily a lot of data and research already exist. Also, don't worry about the length. The different sections all have to have their own introductions and conclusions, and have to address each of the research questions. It gets very repetitive, and the page count rises quickly.

Thanks Dave.

Do you have to write an actual thesis for this type of paper? Or no because we will list the questions/topics we will be covering in the intro assignment?
I feel like the sub-questions makes this feel like you are writing 4 essays in 1.

I wanted to pick a fun topic, but I feel like anything interesting isn't really backed with "scholarly sources" so far. I would prefer a more contemporary topic.

Your main research question drives the paper. Give an example of a fun topic that has no research. People study almost everything in some fashion, there's probably an angle that could be pursued...plus you can always conduct interviews or surveys to feed your topic.
