For each undergraduate course, there is an assessment fee of $140, to be paid by the end of each course.

Hmm, I really wonder if people can ladder that into a degree, and also get the $140 for a degree versus a certificate. Someone should do a degree ladder from certificate(s) to possible bachelors and paying just the $140 instead of $200 per assessment.

That would be nice! I am sure the credits count towards a degree if one earns the certificate. It appears to be an invitation to try the school out and if you like it, continue for a degree. If not, receive the certificate and move on. My main interest is using the certificate credits for transfer to another RA school. Additionally, the certificate from an RA school should boost the resume so it is worth the minimal extra cost.

When they started the certificate program, certificates did not get you a transcript, so you couldn't transfer the classes to another school. That still appears to be the case: https://catalog.uopeople.edu/ug_term1_it...-processes

So the only way to get transferrable credit is to enroll in UoPeople as a degree candidate.

If GCU accepts ACE, the main providers we recommend are the Sophia.org, Study.com combo. I would suggest also looking at CLEP/Modern States if that's an option for you. Basically, decide on the degree and institution, try to max your transfers with alternative credit options, then finish off the degree at that institution of choice.

A couple years ago GCU made their rounds to a bunch of the college fairs in my area of California. Their flyers promoted that they accept ACE and specifically had Sophia on them.

That said, I believe the deal with GCU is that they accept 30cr from alternative sources.

My personal take on it is that they are not super generous with the amount of credits they allow you to transfer in, but are a lot more accepting of where those credits come from than anywhere around me. Might be a solid option for someone looking for a more traditional experience, but doesn’t have a lot of APs or CLEPs to knock off about 1/4 of the degree.
