VA Discredits HES Eligibility for VA Education Benefits

I wonder if this will result in HES adjusting their admissions requirements.  Pretty sure veterans make up a large % of students.

That would definitely make a pretty big impact on their enrollment. The VA benefits would not cover all of the HES expenses already, so this may not be as big of an issue as it initially sounds like, as many of the people could already be paying out of pocket and using the VA fund to help offset some of it. We would have to have much more information that I am sure the school doesn't want to share in order to make an accurate assessment.

I was worried that this might affect my program which is earned admissions, so I did some digging. It says "through the state approving authority" and it looks like each state decides which programs are certified, so maybe only programs in Massachusetts are affected? I can see sort of see why they don't want to pay for a program that the student may not actually be able to gain admission to, but is it really any different from being admitted, then flunking out? Could HES simply say, "Fine they're admitted", then expell anyone who can't pass those first courses?

The VA even allows a certain amount of time or credits to be taken prior to admission, so I don't see why this is an issue.  The certifying official also doesn't pay, the VA does.  The certifying official just reviews programs for eligibility from what I understand.

According to students, the issues between the VA and HES have been resolved. HES programs have been deemed in compliance with VA requirements and funding will resume as normal.
