Cheapest per credit RA schools? $175 or less per SH.
#1
I thought a new list might be helpful to some people, if anyone wants to help update the list. I am certainly curious. I found a lot of lists that are older with outdated fees. I'll add to this (for 24 hours, then I can't edit anymore).

Roughly sorted from cheapest to most expensive. Edit: Since there aren't many, I will start adding up to $220/credit.
  • Foothill College - Only $31/credit if you only take online courses and take 6cr or less per term. They use a 12-week quarter system. Ask for fee waivers for the ID cared, student representation fee, and campus center use fee, and the only fee is $16 for the Health Services fee. So $140 for a 4cr course or $171 for a 5cr course.
  • De Anza Community College - Same as Foothill College. See above.
  • Luna Community College - cheap
  • Clovis Community College - $1068 for 12 cr in summer, $1332 for 12 cr in fall, but in summer 10 is considered full-time
  • New Mexico Junior College - $64 per SH, or $768 if taking 12+ credits
  • 2 or more other Community Colleges in New Mexico
  • Patten - $, does not take fed financial aid
  • Penn Foster - $329/course, so just under $110 per SH, does not take fed financial aid. Some courses are not ACE and are only NA.
  • Atlantic Cape Community College Online - $149/credit.
  • Ivy Tech Community College Online - $158.50/cr for out of state ($135.15 in state but not sure if online is available?) but they seem to add another $20/class for online. So slightly over $165/cr.
  • Brigham Young University Online & Correspondance -
  • Edukan (Kansas Consortium of Community Colleges) -
  • Fort Hays State University - $207/credit.
  • Salem Community College Online & Correspondance - raised to $215/credit for out of state. $165/credit for in-county.
  • Eastern Oregon University Online - I think they raised prices, so maybe they don't qualify

Not cheap anymore?
  • Shoreline Virtual College Online - 1 credit is $158.06, 12 credits is $1,380.78. I don't believe this qualifies, because their courses are mostly 5 credit, and it's $654.30 for a course.
  • Colorado State University Online - They are over $300/credit for courses, but they have 3-credit CBEs for $250

In State:
  • various California community colleges - cheap for in-state residents. $156/cr for out of state but that's for quarter credits (so it's $780/course for out of state?)
  • Passaic County Community College Online - $143/cr in-state and cheaper in county. $228 out of state.
  • Texas community colleges for in-state residents only
  • some other states for in-state residents only

B&M schools: Many states including AZ, CA, TX. TN soon if not already.

(California Coast University Online is nationally accredited, not regionally accredited.)

Edit: After this can't be edited, maybe I can move it to the Wiki. Hopefully there is input on this thread in the next 24 hours Smile

I will be filling in some of the blank spots.

Oh, good point. They should have some online or hybrid classes.

Foothill & DeAnza (12-week quarter system) charge only $31/credit if you only take online courses with a limit of 6cr or less per term - ask for fee waivers for the ID cared, student representation fee, and campus center use fee, and the only fee is $16 for the Health Services fee. So $140 for a 4cr course or $171 for a 5cr course.

College courses / degrees at Penn Foster - not, strictly-speaking, RA. That division is accredited by DEAC (NA). HOWEVER ... yes, many courses are ACE-recommended. That will facilitate course transfer credit to around 2,000 schools - including, of course, many RA. Complete degree programs at PF are all NA. (DEAC).

The California Community Colleges are cheap for residents only.
Good list... BTW, for non residents, it's $156/unit instead.

Just for my clarification, this would be done when needing UL classes not available through ACE, etc., means?

Outside of competency-based programs and some independent study courses, you're not going to find many, if any, 4-year, RA schools that charge out-of-state students less than Fort Hays State University ($207 per credit hour). Peru State College and Chadron State College upped their prices to $260 per credit hour, and they're still among the cheapest.
