Considering Re-Enrolling to TESU
#1
Hi, I attended TESU from 2015-2016. I transferred some credits in and took some of TESU courses. I had to withdraw for medical reasons, but I feel better now and will have time to devote to school within the next 6 months.

Initially, I was going for a BACS but wondering if I should try to get a BALS with a CS concentration so I can finish faster. Plus I have more time than money and was thinking that I could get a BALS much cheaper and faster than the BACS. I am pretty much stuck in barely above min wage jobs, so maybe I should just get a BALS to get better employment and then try to get a second CS/IT degree later? Or I could transfer to a different big three school or WGU if it is cheaper and/or faster?

I am within driving distance to a testing site for CLEP so I would rather take CLEPS than pay $200 a month with SL/SDC. But as far as I can tell there aren't many upper credits for my degree that I can even use or at least I can't find them. Are there any other sources that I could use for credit for my degree?

Also, it seemed like the degree requirements for the BACS changed since my initial eval in 2015. Could you look at my academic evaluation and help me make a degree plan? Would I have to retake SOS-110?

Wait! Were you able to retain this catalog? If so, you can save yourself the SOS-110. If not, you've got a different set of requirements for the 2019a catalog. Are you able to logon to TESU OSS and verify the catalog you're on? Is your account active?

When you log into TESU OSS, you look under Academic Profile. Then click My Profile and Voila, it'll show up the catalog year details. There is one more thing you want to note in this screen, it'll show your Student Status and Start Date. What does it show for your Student Status and Start Date? I want to see if you need to take the SOS-110 or not, other than that, not too much of a change.

To be safe and also to verify you're on the right catalog, in TESU OSS, also under Academic Profile, click Academic Evaluation. Select your program list you have in here, and click the OK button. It'll bring up your evaluation and also show which catalog year you're on. Hope you're still on the earlier catalog version, if not, the newer catalog doesn't require Calculus II for example, there are some other minor changes as well, but you will need to take the SOS-110, it'll be an expensive change.

Okay under Academic Profile my status is OSIAC Non-NJ Res. on Inactive Stat. 06/30/16. The catalog year is 2015 on my academic eval. That means I don't have to take S0S-110 right?

Your status is INACTIVE. Crap, just as I thought... So, back to the drawing board, what courses did you take from TESU? Your first post mentioned you took something from them... If you did, you are down to the wire as you have less than 11 days to get that enrollment back up. If you are past that 3 year time frame, you will lose your current catalog. oh no : (
I took CHE-101 GS001 Survey of Chemistry, MAR-301 GS002 Introduction to Marketing, SOS-110 OL011 Living in the Information Age, ENC-102 OL011 English Composition II, MAT-115 OL010 Intermediate Algebra, POS-315 OL009 International Relations
Living in the information age has the course number of SOS-110. Would I have to take it again ?

Oh yeah! You already have credit for SOS-110, you will not need to take it again. You just saved yourself some cash, and it'll be easier if you get the 2019a catalog - one less MATH course! Woo, you might want to compare the requirements of the two, but that course you've taken already so there is no need to retake. Three cheers, now go get the rest of them done by CLEP/SL/Study.com etc... just get'em done!

I think it's actually much easier to get the BACS done now than it was back in 2015. The price shouldn't be any different than getting a BALS at this point.

If I'm reading this right, you already have 15 credits that count towards residency, so after doing the capstone, you'll have 18 and won't need the residency waiver fee. Now Study.com has added so many of the CS area of study courses, I'm pretty sure you can finish the BACS just by doing alternative credits and the capstone. I can't imagine that a BALS could be easier, quicker or cheaper.
