Tesc Gpa??
#1
Im a newbie....can someone please explain how to go about getting a GPA from TESC?

I am transferring in approx 60 credits from another college, which have a GPA. I plan on testing out of as much as possible for the rest of my BSBA/HR degree.

How does the GPA get calculated? Do they take my GPA in account from my transferred classes at all or does that Cum GPA just dissapear?

I heard if you just take ONE class and nothing more at TESC, that becomes your new GPA, is that correct?

Thanks again!

That is correct. If you don't take any classes at TESC, it just says you don't have a GPA. Also, you need to take an actual class with them to get a GPA. TECEPs do not count.

I took one TESC course to receive my GPA. For me it was Managerial Communications (3.7 GPA).
BSBA in Finance from TESC by fall 2011

If you do a academic eval on another major it will show Cumulative GPA. Im not sure if it shows up on the final transcript though.

so, if you take a 1 credit course, that can still give you a GPA?

Is this for grad school or employment? Having a GPA from TESC is not important for grad school. They will require to see transcripts from all of the schools and they will calculate your GPA according to their policies. As far as employment, does the TESC transcript make it obvious that you only got a GPA for one course?

It's weird because TESC will calculate your GPA for transfer credits to make sure you're above 2.0 (it shows on your academic evaluation), but they won't put that GPA on the transcript. I think it's a stupid policy. For internships and entry level employment programs, I will need a GPA. Since I don't want to miss the October deadline for graduation forms, I will skip taking a TESC course and will just wait until after graduate school to apply to jobs requiring a GPA.

I dont specifically need it for either employment or Grad school just yet but would definately like to have one just in case. I know alot of employers request it as well as Grad schools and I want one to be safe. I agree that its a stupid policy to base a GPA on ONE class. I would so much rather they take into account every class Ive taken toward the degree! I worked hard for my grades!
