Degree planning help - UMPI BBA vs PUG BSBA
#11
Depending on the info you haven't yet provided us within the addendum and template, it's going to be really hard to 'gauge' how fast you can get things done, or what's going to be the right fit for you, here's a thread you might be interested in reviewing as you can do a BA Math (or in another subject) plus BS CIS degree at TESU as an alternative option to UMPI. Generally, for the last few months, I've been recommending a balanced mix/match trifecta of certs, degree, experience: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...n-guidance
Study.com Offer https://bit.ly/3RTJ3I9

Pre-Med Online, MSc Biomedical Sciences (Starting Jan 2026)
In Progress: UoPeople BS Health Science

Completed: UMPI BAS & MAOL (2025)
TESU ASNSM Biology, BSBA (ACBSP Accredited 2017)

Based on the one MBA course I took as part of my MSIT, I'd say it's doable in two terms -- albeit harder because there's few/no IT certs to help with completing requirements in advance.
What will the price be tho? Currently its 1700$ for 6weeks term

Assuming i transfer as much 3rd party credit as possible, and i will be free during those two terms period (no school, job, family..etc).

Your Location: Africa
Your Age: 24
What kind of degree do you want?: bs in business, open to IT if it gonna complement my CS degree Current degree : bachelor's equivalent in math and computer science

3rd party Credits: 0 , i wanna decide what degree i am going for before i jump on getting credits, ill most likely be using only Sophia given that its the cheapest (that 4 months 299$ deal)

[b]Budget:under 4k maybe 5k if i have no other option(excluding the TOEFL fees and sophia..etc)

Commitments: zero besides basic care for myself

Dedicated time to study: 40 to 50 hours a week

Timeline: as fast just because i assume it would be the cheapest

I want a second degree to help my resume up and gain good knowledge to break in into the international job market(i want to work remotely rather than in my local job market), and potentially ease up an immigration process in the future.

Being an international student, I am going to say the degree from the state university that does not have global in their name giving it away that it is an online college is going to be the best one for your career wise. We see a lot of people complete their UMPI degree in 1 or 2 terms. Not nearly as many at PUG.

Ding ding, I'm on board with ss20ts, exactly. That's the reason I mentioned in addition to UMPI BABA PM & IS, or their M & L, you can decide if a dual degree from TESU would open more doors. It's really up to you, but I'd get these over PUG, even though you'll be very close to your budget on any of these three options, I favor the UMPI for a quick degree (you can add a freebie AALS too) and favor TESU if you want a double degree - with options to add freebie certs and associates degrees along the route.

They haven't announced yet, but the BS ExcelTrack is $2500 for a 10-week term, so around that (but possibly a bit higher) would be my guess.

TESU is better known around here. But not better known in general. TESU is not obviously an official university of New Jersey. UMPI is very obviously an official university of the state of Maine.
In progress:

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)

No one where I live has heard of TESU and I live in New York shares a border with New Jersey. Even people who haven't heard of UMPI can figure out that it's part of the University of Maine system which is a state university system. TESU's name doesn't say it's part of a state university system the same way. This is similar to how people ask if Buffalo State is a SUNY school. SUNY is New York's state university system. It is a SUNY school, but people still question if it is. It's also not the same thing as University of Buffalo which is another SUNY school. Fun with names!
