Does this psychology plan make sense?
#1
I’m working towards a BA psych using Sanantone’s degree plan for TESC with the hopes of getting accepted at Fort Hays for the online masters in counseling. FH has a requirement of 60 graded credits. I recently read on this forum that a member was accepted with 30, including DSST for a different program so I may have some flexibility under a provisional status. Am I making sense trying to combine University of Idaho’s graded UL credits and DSST’s general ed credits to get at least 30 graded credits at TESC or am I making this way more complicated than necessary? I thought TESC doesn’t give grades so these grades would only be used where I apply for a masters, right?
Thanks for any advice. I wouldn’t be this far along my degree without you!

Here’s University of Idaho independent study course offerings in psych:

Psyc 101: Introduction to Psychology
Psyc 300: Statistical Methods
Psyc 305: Developmental Psychology
Psyc 310: Psychology of Personality
Psyc 311: Abnormal Psychology
Psyc 372: Physiological Psychology
Psyc 390: Psychology of Learning
Psyc 410: Sports Psychology
Psyc 415: History and Systems of Psychology
Psyc 419: Adult Development and Aging
Psyc 422: Disorders of Childhood and Adolescence
Psyc 430: Tests and Measurements

TESC has never assigned grades to DSSTs. Since almost all of the DSSTs have 3-digit scores, you won't get grades for them at Excelsior or COSC either. TESC doesn't count transfer credits toward your TESC GPA, but you would have to send the graduate school a transcript from University of Idaho and any other school you attend anyway. They will calculate their own GPA. Rarely does a graduate school depend on the GPA calculated by the institution where you received your bachelor's degree. If you take some Uexcels, you will have grades on an Excelsior transcript even if you never enroll. The one problem with Uexcels, however, is that it is easy to get a "B" or "C" on the tests, which would negatively affect your GPA. When you take a course, there is usually a lot you can do to improve your grade before the course is over.

Thanks Sanantone. I was thinking TESC didn't give grades. Since I need them to get into FH, I think my best bet is to find 30+ credits worth of the cheapest classes to replace exams that fit my degree plan knowing grad school will calculate them as they see fit. Now I'm wondering how grad schools look at DSST? Off to search!
Thanks again!
