Dumbest Education Question of 2019 So Far

I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree, but I didn't major in art. Woe is me. But, I did study biology and medical science, and I had a hybrid vehicle at one point and used public transportation for decades, so I guess I'm more qualified than Massie!
But none of this is about us. We shouldn't take it personally. You are not testifying before Congress as an expert on climate. It is about Kerry and his qualifications as an expert witness on climate change.

It is a fair question. He doesn't have the best track record with this stuff. For example:

"Scientists project that the Arctic will be ice-free in the summer of 2013. Not in 2050, but four years from now," John Kerry, 2009.

The arctic region had 29% more ice in the summer of 2013 when compared to 2012.

Kerry should stick to politics, which was his major and area of expertise. He should not be testifying as an expert on climate change. That's why his credentials were questioned.

And, Massie shouldn't be on any committees that have anything to do with the environment. Regardless of what one thinks about Kerry's qualifications, Massie's line of questioning was stupid, especially for someone with a STEM degree from an elite school. He embarrassed himself in front of millions of people. The experts at his own school disagree with him, but that's beside the point. He had a major failure in logic that made his credibility questionable. If he wanted to make the point that Kerry does not have the academic background to fully understand what he's talking about, then that's all he had to say. For decades, there were scientists saying that tobacco was harmless. They knew it wasn't harmless, but they said what they said because of money.

If anyone wants a good laugh, read the responses to this tweet by Massie.

I still don't think he is stupid. He is obviously a super-brilliant engineer. He is probably a nerd and possibly a snob toward people with other types of degrees. He was implying that people with political science degrees are dumb, so they got offended and are now saying, "I know you are, but what am I?"

Apparently, his engineering degree didn't teach him communication skills or logic. As I said, if he wanted to make the point that Kerry didn't have the academic background to be an expert, then that's all he had to say. He made the faux pas even worse by making his own dumb statements on geology.

What he was implying was that Kerry was claiming to have a degree in a science. Kerry has no control over political science being called political science, and there is such a thing as social science. The whole "pseudoscience" end Massie was trying to get to was illogical.
