Elective requirements
#1
Sorry, I know this is probably a question for advising, but I'm trying to ask them as few questions as possible.
Does anyone know if there have been any changes to the requirements for electives? I submitted a new transcript for review, just got my evaluation back and suddenly I went from having all 15 electives fulfilled to having only 6 of 15 fulfilled. I now have a ton of credits in "other courses". They even put one of my ASU courses in "other courses" when I thought RA credit was prioritized? I'm so confused. Do I just ask to have it reviewed again?

Appeal your academic evaluation. Similar thing happened to me today, maybe something changed with the move to the new online advising portal. TESU overloaded one of my degree programs with ACE credits, kept my ASU ULC stuff down in other credits, and left some spots blank. After an appeal to the registrar they quickly moved things to where they belonged.

That's right, it's the system 'auto populating' information incorrectly, you just need to email advising to move them back, if you're getting pushback, then forward that email or request over to the registrar to get the info corrected. Sometimes it's great going directly to the registrar, but I usually follow the hierarchy...

Thank you! Will definitely appeal. I'm in the home stretch so I was looking forward to seeing most of my requirements fulfilled. That was disappointing to see!

I think the automatic system sees at least some of the 3-digit codes as "remedial" or something along those lines. Frustrating, but relatively easy to deal with.

Welp, I should have taken your advice and gone straight to the registrar. Silly me tried to go through the channel I was advised of previously and received a very unhelpful response. They basically asked me which classes were moved from electives to other courses (I can't recall what was where) and then went on to tell me that I am over my transfer credit limit by 3 credits. Which doesn't explain why there are 30 unused credits sitting in my other section when 9 are needed to fulfill electives.

That sucks. Yes the registrar unless you have a very competent advisor.

I had a back and forth exchange with an Assistant Dean and long story short - you may not be able to trust what you see in the My Progress tool! She was having trouble understanding my problem and now I know why. She sent me copies of my evaluations for each program on my plan, only her print outs looked like the old evaluation tool and showed something different than what's in My Progress. My view showed only 6 credits being applied to my electives, while her view showed 12. She's escalating the matter to the registrar, hopefully they'll be able to resolve it.
